By who? The police?Gates has figured out that he let his mouth overload his ass. He oughta be glad he went into asshole mode in Cambridge. Anywhere else and he might got his ass kicked.
By who? The police?
Im sure everyone here would be perfectly reasonable if the police arrested them in their own home.
I would. Because my rational response would create a happy ending. Besides, I'm not so stupid that I would give a cop a reason to charge me with a crime.
But isnt your home your castle?
Then again, again, again I would be able to realize that if I was stupid enough not to have a key to my own house, I may have to explain to someone why I was jimmy'n the door open.
But...hey...I'm white. 'Splainin' myself in a rational manner is purdy much the only option I have.
Is that another law that should be made if you dont have your key its not your house? You claim to be a conservative but what you mean is social conservative not pro freedom conservative you are sucking up to the government.
Well, in this day and age, bustin' down the door is a bad sign. If you have to break in to your own home, you must be prepared to prove that it's your home. It's just common sense. What's a cop supposed to do, take the person's word that it's his/her home and just leave the scene?
"Oh! You're breaking into your own home because you don't have your key? Well, sorry to bother you!"
What if it's your house that someone is breaking into, because he doesn't have his key? You want the cops to ask questions, or you want the cop to say, "ok", and carry on?
I'm a common sense Conservative.
WHERE ARE YOUR PAPERS? My point is it must of become obvous it was his house but the arrested him anyway this is all about a policemans ego.
Having to bust down the door doesn't make it obvious that it's your house. Sorry!!
Im sure you would be reasonable in that situation.Doesent change the fact they dragged a man out his own house and arrested him.Was that really in the public interest?
Was it in the public interest for Gates to go bezerk on the cops? What was that going to accomplish? Why not just say, "hey, officer, this is my home. Here's my driver's license that proves that this is my home of record"? What the hell is the problem with that?!?!?
Well in your mind the government owns you.You kneel before them.
No, not even close, but I do want the police to make an honest effort to prove that the person breaking into my home, is the owner. I would be impressed as hell if the cops made that effort to prove that the person breaking into my home wasn't an actual burgler. I mean, hell, that's like, their job.
Or there would be an even bigger media cluster**** and cries of police brutality. Be glad that did not happen.Uh, yeah, by the cops. If he'd pulled some crap like that in a place like New Orleans, he would have been carried to jail. Not only would he have been charged with disorderly conduct, but resisting arrest, assault on an officer and whatever else they could think of on the way to the district barracks.
WHERE ARE YOUR PAPERS? My point is it must of become obvous it was his house but the arrested him anyway this is all about a policemans ego.
You really think he needed to be arrested to prove that?
He needed to be arrested because he was creating a public disturbance and he was refusing to control himself.
It's against the law to be disorderly in public, and that's what that boy was doing.
