Gas is the lowest since 2020, really?

I have heard this on the local and national news. First, 2020 for those who forgot with your short memories, we were in the grip of Covid. People were not traveling and thus not buying gas. As normal, with our economy, when demand drops, so did prices. Crude oil at the time was going for 30 dollars a barrel or less and some countries could not give it away, so trying to compare 2020 prices for gas to any time since is like comparing apples to elephants.
And then saying gas is lower than any time since 2020 is wrong. Gas around me is going for about $3.20 cents a gallon. Just 9 months ago we were paying between $2,65 and $2.75. I do not know what other parts of the country were paying for gas between now and 2020, but I suspect the statement that now it is cheaper than any time since then is also false.

Does it really matter if gas costs less if everything else costs more due to Trump's ****ed up tariffs?

Not only that, the fact that Trump and Repugs are doing absolutely nothing to promote alternative energy like wind and solar is going to make everyone's energy bills go way up. There is an energy shortage in this country that fossil fuels is not going to solve on its own. More energy demand means much higher prices for everyone.

Gasoline prices at the pump vary based on seasonal ‘blends’ and state taxation, thus the national annual average is typically used for comparison. As you noted, demand is also a factor.

Locally, the current gasoline pump price/gallon (for 87 octane) is $2.54 to $2.78.

Check you state and local gas taxes. That can make a huge difference.
Are you saying that many places have recently added state and local taxes which are offsetting Trump's EOs and other attempts that were intended to lower gas prices?

That's to be expected in the estado comunista de norte California. All gas stations I have seen are north of $4/gallon. A pack of Marlboro is north of $13/pack. I see lots of taxation without representation here. Who needs Maduro when we have Newsom? California is in need of Federal intervention to free it from the grip of the ruling Democratic Cartel.

OPEC has been increasing oil production.

solar and wind are false icons on the AGW battlefield. Each requires a backup source to ensure uninterrupted electricity.

Did CA recently add state and local taxes that are offsetting Trump's EOs and other attempts that were intended to lower gas prices?

So? The more energy the better. Any alternative energy that can augment fossil fuels will lower energy costs for everyone. There simply is no legitimate reason not to use all available safe sources of energy.

What? Are you trying to stand in the way when I place blame for all my ills on California's ruling party? No way:)

I'm just trying to figure out why people are pretending that most people can't drive around their town and see how gas prices are trending. I follow the news pretty closely and am not aware of widespread spikes of local and state gas taxes. 🤷‍♀️

Have some sense of humour. Tomorrow is Labour Day 🤽

Problem is alternative sources are unreliable and/or unpredictable. Which makes the "more . . ." part questionable. For large scale transporting fossil fuel continues to be the choice.

It's not a "problem" if it's augmenting fossil fuels. It's a no-lose situation.

You're just coming up with lame MAGA excuses for Trump's stupidity and incompetence.

And fossil fuels are not always reliable, either. --

Not here.
Premium, which my vehicle requires, is $1.24 higher per gallon than what it was in 2020.

Except when it can't "augment . . .". It can't be relied on

Got nothing to do with MAGA it's basic engineering design and logic.

More so that sources that relied on weather phenomenal.
Irrelevant.

$3.26?

Trump told me gas is less than $2.

Then you rely on fossil fuels instead.....which you foolishly claim is always reliable.

Why are you holding alternative energy to a higher standard than fossil fuels? You're making stupid "arguments".

Got nothing to do with MAGA it's basic engineering design and logic.
No, definitely not. You're making up stupid shit. If an alternative energy source like solar or wind is not currently available, then it just isn't. Blame your fossil fuels for failing as the primary source of energy. But of course someone as dishonest as yourself won't do that.

More so that sources that relied on weather phenomenal.
Doesn't matter...it's only augmenting "reliable" fossil fuels, remember? If wind and solar is currently available for energy augmentation, great. More energy available, less cost for everyone. If the alternative energy is currently not available, then it just isn't.

Irrelevant.
Not irrelevant at all. You are holding wind and solar to a higher reliability standard than fossil fuels. That is bullshit.

In in WA, you're #1 and we're #2 on gas tax. It's nothing more than the war on the gas powered automobile. Gas taxes are used to fund green nonsense which basically providing no benefits to the taxpayers.

Gas was also VERY cheap during the Great Recession!!

So AWESOME!! Thanks Dumbya!!

Gasoline has increased 5% in my state in the past month alone.
