So most people love to talk about games they're good or great at, and those are likely the ones you play a lot. But what about games you suck at, whether you play them a lot (or try to) or "never again".
I'll start, of course. Uncharted. I don't know which one I wanted to play so bad because the story looked interesting and I just wanted to try something new. I didn't make a first kill. Didn't make it off the boat you start at, very beginning. I tried over and over and still couldn't figure it out. This one is a "never again" one for me.
I also suck at first person shooters and racing games. I actually did okay with Mario Cart for my Switch (one of my sons got it for me for a birthday gift). But I don't think I'm really good at Mario Cart, but rather get lucky. Now the ones in arcades, I haven't actually tried one of those in years, not since I got my driver's license, but I'm not really sure that'd make a difference. And first person shooters just aren't for me. I suck at aiming in a video game and hesitate to kill people and just can't do them.

I liked Rygar. Many other classic NES games too. G&G set a new standard in brutal difficulty.I had to cheat to get anywhere with Ghosts and Goblins. Very cool graphics for the time, but ****ing impossible. Same thing with Kid Icarus. Had to give up and move on. Rygar was great, though.
I finished Rygar before one of my asshole friends stole it. I like that one. Did you make it through Ghosts and Goblins? I did, but I think that I had to use the Game Genie to do it.I liked Rygar. Many other classic NES games too. G&G set a new standard in brutal difficulty.
I never made it through G&G. But I could beat the original Contra on the NES in 1 playthrough.I finished Rygar before one of my asshole friends stole it. I like that one. Did you make it through Ghosts and Goblins? I did, but I think that I had to use the Game Genie to do it.
Contra was great. I think that I used the cheat code, but I really liked it. If you grew up on Atari, those 8 bit Nintendo games felt like having your own arcade. On top of that, my buddy had the Sega Master System. We had a shitload of fun with that. Alex Kidd in Miracle World and all of that.I never made it through G&G. Remember Atari's competitor, Intellivision? I didn't play Sega. My buddy also had an Intellivision. I never got to play the Turbo Grafix 16. What was its big game, something about Bonk? I did have a Genesis. It was pretty great. Someone stole that one, too when they robbed my house. I got a replacement, but I eventually traded it for an additional dual tape deck so that I could double track my singing before I got my 4 track. The "Konami Code" up up down down left right left right B A select start

A friend of mine had it. Bonk was a main title. My favorite was Military Madness. My buddy also had an Intellivision. I never got to play the Turbo Grafix 16. What was its big game, something about Bonk?

Ok, that would be awkward. I would have been like, "give me back my Sega or I'll carve you up instead of the turkey! The house robbing story is a bit funny, as I ended up having Thanksgiving dinner with that person like ten or fifteen years later. It was kind of random and awkward, but it ended up ok.
You got to play one? That's cool, so +1. I never knew anyone who had one. I only read about them in my video game magazines.A friend of mine had it. Bonk was a main title. My favorite was Military Madness.

I thought so too. Military Madness, IMO, is one of the original and best hexagonal strategy games ever made. I know its been polished and rereleased on other platforms over the years, like the PS3. But the original just has a certain charm to it. It also had a cool racing game that played out like a quest, although the name escapes me.You got to play one? That's cool, so +1.
I think it was a competator to the Super Nintendo and Sega. A shame it wasn't more popular.I never knew anyone who had one. I only read about them in my video game magazines.
I cannot disagree with you on that.Yeah, one of my close girl friends (not girlfriend) who I had a thing for was his first or second cousin. He and I ended up sitting next to each other on the couch, and we just talked. It was fine. I'm an asshole, but I like to keep it light like Dean Martin. In the spirit of that, I kept it light, and we were all fine. Now it's an interesting story that I get to tell on a message board, or even in person. "Hey, ya wanna hear about the time that I hung out at Thanksgiving with a dude who robbed my house?" True ****ing story. You need good stories like to get through the monotony. The older I get, the more I find out that's true.
It's never too late. It's hard to maintain connections when life pulls you every which way. Good luck with that.Dinner was good. I took pictures of trees from the front step. I should call her and see how she's doing, but sometimes I let friendships go for years. I'm working on that currently. Life is so busy, but that's ok. I'm reconnecting with my friends.
Thanks. It's fun to reconnect with people. My old band has been remixing songs using new technology. I heard one of them this past weekend. As the cab driver in Scrooged said, I was Niagra Falls.I thought so too. Military Madness, IMO, is one of the original and best hexagonal strategy games ever made.
