Without looking it up or reading any posts below this one, guess the comparative size of Iran.

If you recently looked up this information, don't play.

The poll is anonymous so no need to fear looking dumb.

Looked it up after I voted. Pretty close.

Took an honest guess. Waiting to see if I'm close.

I’m guessing somewhere between the size of the Midwest or the Louisiana purchase - but I went with Midwest.

I often have a really bad sense of how big places are though…so it was just a random guess.

Miles?

Sorry, no one measures "miles" anymore.

I'd forgotten the formula.

I voted the same, you were close.

Went with 13 colonies.

Went with NE. Seems about right.

When looking at a map of the region, many Americans are, in their mind, thinking of a country size like the states.

Nope, tiny...

I made an educated guess and got it right - if right means picking the closest choice.

I guessed Alaska.....just based on the maps I've seen and it's relative size to,adjacent countries

I went for Alaska I think I’ve heard the comparison before.

Not being American i have no idea how big those states are so they don't help me guess the size of Iran.

Iran is pretty big though and I'd guess at 3 times the size of the UK.
I'm most likely wildly wrong though.

The closest comparison on this list is Alaska.

Bonus fact: Iran's population is about 90 million, compared to the US at 340 million.

I wonder what the average IQ and education level is.

Pick one.

Is Geography a required course in US schools?
Even if it is why would US geography classes teach about the size of nations?

I'm waiting on the explanation of why this matters?
