Fry tells it like it is.

I just love how people can believe in such a powerful god, all knowing, all wise, all seeing etc.

But yet God could be so spiteful, angry, vengeful and cruel.

Surely such a being, if he were to exist, would be above such things?

So what, he created the universe, in all it's infinite glory and majesty anddddddddddddddddd he doesn't like it when one dude, likes another dude.

Que?

If you have access to RTE I advise you to check out "The Rpublic of Telly" which is a awsome Irish comedy show.

Besides, Stephan stole that point about the worm from David Atenborough?

Thank you for the link. The point about the worm is a moot one no matter who said it first. I have never known a believer to address that point.

Christians tell us that god loves us all, I can only go by what they say.

There are other religions who say other things about such a creature as well.

So if we get rid of God then we get rid of everything that hurts us?

The man is a moron.

No, we stop believing in a cruel and capricious being.

Re: Fry is a fool.

Psalms 53:1: “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.”
The Bible props up the idea of God? Profound stuff right there. It's almost like Holy Books tend to support the deity who inspired their writing.

The human brain exists to help figure out how to control such stuff like bugs eating eyes. Why doesn't science use someone's brain to figure out how to control the damn insects? Beats me. Damn science.

How do you know that science is not trying to figure it out?

I didn't say they weren't trying. Trying isn't doing, and compassion demands results.

I'm trying to learn the clarinet, and that involves doing something. Why does compassion demand results? Why can't one just be compassionate?

One hundred billion galaxies are held together by a mighty fine thread, it would seem.

You are learning to play the clarinet. I know musicians that play well, and those that play rather poorly - but they all play. That's not the same thing as the either/or proposition you offer in the OP. Either God eliminates all disease and affliction, or He's not a loving God, but a vengeful and capricious one in your estimation. That conveniently eliminates man from any responsibility or effort to use the tools at his disposal, and the use of reason is chief among those tools.

Anybody can criticize. What are your comments concerning his main points, like bone cancer in children?

As I said, believers never say why god does afflict children. I wouldn't, but I'm a nice guy.
