By the way, pixie Mike Johnson, who considers himself a budget hawk, won't say a word.

Because he's a quiet asshole and hypocrite.

NASA's budget has been cut. We won't feed hungry kids anymore. And tons of Americans insurance has been cut.

But suddenly we have the money to build Gold Ballrooms And a nuclear plant on the moon faster.
This is an updated version of “Whitey’s on the Moon”

Several companies have risen to meet the space station demand, including Axiom Space, Vast, and Blue Origin. But lawmakers have expressed concern in recent months that the agency is not moving fast enough to give them the funds they need.

Well, I'm going to be "that guy" and say that I'm not entirely against this plan. If we want to establish some lunar surface capability someday, then a seed needs to be planted, and power generation is actually a really good seed. If we have a stable source of some 10-100KW of power, that's enough to start building off of. And it's not like we're talking a conventional nuclear power plant. This is likely more akin to scaled up RTGs that power everything from Voyager to New Horizons. New, next generation RTGs is absolutely something NASA should invest in.

There was already a plan. This Fox News host is just talking about us rushing the plan to take the conversation away from Epstein.

Perhaps. I don't know what the motivation is, I just think it's a decent idea. Our deep space ambitions have rested on aging stockpiles of RTGs and I fully support anyone, even a Fox News host, pushing to accelerate the effort to develop more of them. It's something that needs to live within the federal apparatus -- no private company is going to be launching nuclear reactors anytime soon -- and is a strategic long term priority for the United States. And having one on the moon would be an instant enablers to commercial operations on the lunar surface. It's just smart thinking.

The important thing is that Elon should personally manage it.
Well from the OP
President Donald Trump named Duffy as interim administrator in July after abruptly withdrawing the nomination of billionaire Jared Isaacman amid a spat with the nominee’s ally, Elon Musk.

So Fox News is in because Trump and Elon had a row. Otherwise, it was supposed to be another oligarch in it.

But the absurdity of this "nuclear reactor" thing. They could have come up with half a dozen other BS headlines that weren't as outrageous as a nuclear reactor. I mean, the panic over Epstein is in full force with the MAGA commies, but full hysterics might not be the right answer.

Can't he just focus on racist roads in New York, instead?

WTF would we do with a nuclear reactor on the moon?
There’s a reason why NASa is failing. Idiots like these Fox News hosts have zero clue what they are doing.

The actual scientists hate themselves right now.

There are so many ****ing things you'd need to do before "nuclear reactor" on the moon.

You can't spin your way out of the stupidity of this announcement.
Tell it to NASA, I'm sure they've been dying to hear your opinion on the matter. 😂

:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

This administration reminds me of that skit on In Living Color about Jamaicans having loads of jobs each.

Tell it to NASA, I'm sure they've been dying for your opinion on the matter.
Not the MAGA variant of NASA. I'm a PhD physicist, MAGA NASA is Fox News BS headline NASA. They're not interested in science.

[Duffy] graduated from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota with a degree in marketing and worked for Scheer's Lumberjack Shows in the summers. By June 1997, The New York Times Magazine considered Duffy one of the top American lumberjacks at that time. He later graduated from the William Mitchell College of Law. Duffy's nephew is Erik Johnson, a defenseman for the Colorado Avalanche and the first overall pick in the 2006 NHL entry draft.

This guy is running NASA and the Dept. of Transportation. I've lived too long.
