Ford vs Chevy

Seems off topic, I know...but stick with me, here, it will relate, trust me.

You got Ford fans, and Chevy fans, in the racing community. And of course, all of them, be it a mustang or a camero, or a focus, or even a corvette, or modified. Changed.

Mustang guys have been dropping Chevy 350s into their stands for years, and camaro guys have long enjoyed using ford 9 bolt rear diffs.

So, the question...at what point is a mustang no longer a mustang? If I build a 5.0 notch back, full cage, LS1 (Chevy motor) with a t56 trans, and a Dana 44 rear (from a corvette), is it still a mustang? Why, or why not?
 
Is it the appearance that defines it as a mustang? Or what's inside? What if you don't know what's inside? Then appearance defines it, yes? And upon learning what's inside, does it then stop being a mustang?

That's an easy one. If it's shaped like a brick and has a v8, it's a Stang.

Stangs also came/come with V6, and turbo 4 drivetrains.

That said

A Mustang in my opinion needs to look like a mustang and have the majority of components (mechanical) from Ford and at least available in Mustangs (or Fords)

There is a point at which the car becomes a custom build, rather than the car it was based on. Changing the engine, tranny and diff, is pushing it. Changing those, the suspension and brakes in my opinion makes it a custom build rather than the car it was based on. Add on changing the frame, and leaving only the body is of course going to a custom build

The Ecoboost Mustang's of today are faster, and handle better than Mustang GTs, up until around 2012. The 4.6 L V8's had about 320 HP. The top Ecoboost 330HP and a lot more Torque. Now they do not sound as nice as a good V8 of course

Don't knock the modern 4's and v6 in the current iteration of the Stang they each put out over 300 ponies and weigh a couple hundred pounds less than the V8 version. But I have to admit your response made me laugh. :lol:

Custom built Mustang probably.

Heck a Pro street hot rod has very little in common with the car it was built on, but people would still call it a Camaro (if it had the Camaro shell)

The V6 is dead in the Mustang (for the 2019 model year and 2020)

That's my point.

And that custom mustang...you'd only call it that if you KNEW what was under the hood.

Take my avatar car. It shares only the body in common with other 3rd gens. But I still get judged, under estimated, etc. Its a "slow" car. Until they realize it isn't. It is, and always will be, a 1976 corvette stingray.

No.

This is worse than standing on graves for political purpose. It's worse than standing on soldiers. You're standing on muscle cars. How dare you?
 

That's pretty much how I see it. The Shelby Cobra being the prime production example. Basically the only thing British on those is the coachwork. On my Triumph Spitfire I have a Motus V4 mounted to a Tremec T-56 light weight version with most the rest of the car with the exception of the dark lord Lucas's wiring, is from Triumph, the rear suspension is a modified Rotoflex that came on the GT6. I still think of my Spitfire as Triumph and British just slightly modified.

In general yes

Which is I believe why before gender reconstructive surgery the person has to "present" as the gender they want to be for a few years before the surgery is allowed (past rules I believe) To ensure it is is something the person truly wants and they have (had?) to see a therapist who eventually approves the procedure

There was a V6 last year. That said considering the V6 made less power than the 4 dropping the 6 makes sense.

It was pretty much limited to rental car status. Around where I live a lot of V6 mustangs were being sold below MRSP because no one was buying them (year end sales and last year model sales)
