(Forbes) Trump Won’t Deny There Could Be A Recession—Warns Of ‘Period Of Transition’ In Economy

The Commerce Secretary is becoming the chief Trump gargler!

They say that now. A different tune come Mother's Day. Remember, these are people that are cult members. Separating will take time. Little things like foreclosures might have an impact.

I question his.

They convinced themselves the best economy of heir lifetimes was bad. They convinced themselves the 2020 Election was stolen.

I don' think there's any level to which hey are not susceptible to suggestion. Even if the economy were to seriously tank, Trump & the MAGA Disinformation Machine will convince them of some other nonsensical cause, and they will buy it.

I believe they are beyond hope.

We'll be in a recession by June /July.. Then when the 'fun' months of September and October come around, historically the worst months for the DOW.. It very well might get worse...

Trumpsters will still be blaming Biden, Hunter, Hillary, CNN, Deep state.. Anyone but Trump.. But he's in charge, when the shit hits the fan, it's ALLLLLL, on him..
If things play out like this, you better believe they'll be tuning in to Fox News, OAN, etc to be reassured why none of it is Trump's fault.

No, that's just misrepresenting what I posted.

Backpedaling.

The point should be obvious - you expect the administration's efforts to curb our national debt and cut waste in the federal government to happen without any pain whatsoever.

In fact, you know full well that such efforts can be painful - for a time. But necessary as they are, we put up with the pain for the sake of the outcome.

Wrong:

If anything - this entire thread is an ad-hominem towards those who voted in this administration - presuming to make fun of people for assuming there'd be no pain.

That's your ad hom - not mine.

Reverse Projection. The MAGA playbook.

We saw what you did there.

So you voted for a recession.

Everything out of his yap is a lie, mostly provable lies!

Our financials are down since inauguration and it will get worse.

The Market's down 6% recently.

But here's what really worries me:

(I hope Atlanta's they're wrong)

They mostly can't read so I thought a picture would help 🤷‍♂️
They take after orange man. Never opened a book. Just the other day, Mike Johnson, the guy who looks like Beaver Cleaver, said that his is the party of fiscal responsibility. Yup, he really said that. Coffee shot out my nose.

Trump hasn't reigned in any spending. What he's done is threaten tariffs, then pause, then threaten again, then pause again. Seriously. That's what will cause a recession. Firing 40 people at NOAA doesn't save us diddly squat. Causing a recession will contract the economy, which will cost everyone. Screaming "collectivists" like it has any meaning is a shame. Here's a calming video for you.

I recently read a CNBC article where Wall Street is growing fatigued by all this, and the mood is turning to sit things out for awhile. By that, they mean sit on cash and don' invest - including business and employment investment.

This isn't what we want out of our business community.

WSJ has written scathing articles on Trump's nonsense for 3 weeks straight.

It's funny that so many Trump supporters accuse those on the left of having a "hive mind" but they all use the same terms the Conservative Entertainment Complex teaches them.

Great term! (y)

Murdoch isn't happy. Both Fox and the WSJ have been hammering Trump's "dumbest trade war in history."

Can't wait to see which of the ducks in a row Trump blames for the economy by July one. My guess is Elon the peon which is what Trump will do to him.

All tRump had to do is to not get us into a trade war with our closest allies.

Kind of like all a child has to do is not stick a fork in an electric socket.

But tRump, as stupid and malicious as he is, just had to stick that fork in the socket. And we're the ones who will feel the effects.

Dumbest. President. Ever.

“Trump Won’t Deny There Could Be A Recession—Warns Of ‘Period Of Transition’ In Economy”

I think it’s hilarious that Trump is using the word “transition” to explain away his economic troubles. Didn’t Biden use the same word (or was it “transitory”) to paper over HIS economic troubles when he was in the White House?
It always amuses me when the party in power tries to lie and spin away their problems. It never works, but it’s fun to watch.

Mark

Ordinarily we might not blame a new President 2 months in - for a faltering economy. But in this case, it's self-inflicted & fair game.

There's not one pundit, analyst, broker, economist, corporate chieftain, etc., that is not (rightfully) blaming Trump.

A 6% market pull-back, upticks in inflation and unemployment, are not end-alls and are recoverable. But if the Atlanta Fed is accurate in their prediction of -2.5% (negative) GDP, yeah that's indeed a real concern.

It feels like everyone in the current US administration is like this before every announcement as of recently, especially Musk before his tweets:

Didn't Trump say on Friday the 6th of March "I don't watch the markets." after the question about the market slide?
A recession is two straight quarters of economic turndowns, so we have had one and that leaves one to go. Add the war is ongoing in Ukraine makes Trump a liar?! Is that even remotely possible about "I am your retribution" Trump? Is the " On Day One promise now the day 180?

In all fairness, 'no' - we have not had any down quarters.
