Alot of the discussion of Hugo Chavez etc tends to bear very little relation to whats actually happening in the country. I came across this blog a few weeks back which is written by an Australian living in Venezuela and gives a very intresting account of whats actually happening on the ground. so here it is

A Gringa Diary

I'm a bit concerned about this information, Dave. It doesn't seem to have been written by Glenn Beck, and is alarmingly...accurate. Are you sure you want this one getting out there?

Yeah good point i think theres something about that in the rules *checks*

Thanks, but my mother lives in Venezuela. I think I'll trust her take on things.

Why would anyone trust mere anecdotal sentiments without consideration of broader analysis?
Of course the Aussie and his Gringa Diary are a broad analysis.

Jeesh :rofl

I didn't claim such, did I? I've always noted that unique personal perspectives are important complements to wide-ranging analysis, especially since such analysis is in fact an amalgamation of numerous such perspectives. I'm merely wondering why you don't have the same interest in that analysis. :2wave:

I didn't say mom was my only source now did I?

You just assumed.

Your bad :2wave:

Now come on Shayah -- you know it's always considered a "broad analysis" when it conforms to the rigid ideological straightjackets with which the reader views the world!

I did assume that you had a preference for anecdotal reports rather than sound large-scale analysis when a family member was the first and only thing that you chose to mention, yes. How silly of me.

Shocking though it might seem, I do have at least a mild interest in actual argument and substantiated allegations when it comes to discussion of Hugo Chavez and the Bolivarian Revolution in this thread. As I suspect you're both unable and unwilling to provide either, you might want to put your little scooter into reverse and putter your way out.

It was silly of you. Not unexpected though

That's a curious comment. Perhaps we can see you provide actual substantiation of it when you provide something along the lines of this. :2wave:
When I need pomposity, I'll be sure to check in with ya :2razz:

I have probably met a dozen or so Venezuelans who have all expressed their disdain for Chavez and his agenda. In fact, I've NOT met even a single Venezuelan who has anything good to say about Chavez. Of course, they're all living in the U.S., at least now they are.

It's those that have the money to get out of the country. Millions of poor don't have the same resources...

So, someone's opinions are now news? Looks like some really does like Glenn Beck .

I never claimed it was either news or unbiased, its just one persons account of how things are on the ground and well worth the read.

Well for one thing i didn't make any claim to back up at the beginning of the thread. You are the one making outlandish claims. So again provide evidence that the elections were rigged. The election observers sent to the country certainly didnt think so.
