I think an important factor here is to keep in mind that you are discussing this with very disingenuous people who are hiding their motives. If the crowd had gotten to Pelosi and shot her in the head and grabbed Mike Pence and hung him out back, you still wouldn't get many of them to condemn Jan. 6th. They would just change the line to "well Pelosi should have had more security" or defended the actions by saying it was a legitimate defense against a tyrannical government.

If any of our friends here on DP previously posted that J6 was non violent , or a good rally gone bad, or just a kegger, or it was such a tiny percentage who caused the trouble out of the total number of people there, or that real patriots would never do that, I'm willing to forget all those posts.

The principal figures are friends of the white house who are tied to multiple groups that had weapons as a rapid response and extensive planning a month before the riot.

The op and the Politico article barely scrape the surface because there is a pile of sworn testimony in different courts of law over the last two years. The judge called it "well pleaded".
