A record 47.1 million Americans received food stamps in August, the government said, as stubborn unemployment levels kept enrollment high.

Parasite Nation strikes again.
Odd that it comes out after the election... isn't it?
Parasite Nation is stubborn, just like them stubborn unemployment numbers.
Looks like they're gonna git even mo stubborn.
your own graph shows food stamp use is leveling out.

seems to me less people are going on food stamps per year than before. that's a good thing. how do you intend to relate a reduced rate of dependency on food stamps with a failed obama presidency?
Food stamp president. For a second term. Now he has the chance to get the rest up to 300mil people on food stamps.
But it is still slightly going up at the end again if you see, and it tends to keep rising according to the graph here. It's still a pretty big issue. Think how much the deficit could be lowered if a real solution was made to make the amount of people receiving food stamps or other welfare programs go down to just those who have disabilities that prevent them from acquiring real income of their own.
yeah but the population is increasing by millions per year. this graph actually supports president obama. it shows that under his tenure, the rate of increase in food stamp use has fallen tremendously. zimmer doubtlessly didnt realize that when he posted it, though. and yes, it is rising, but it will always rise until we do something concrete about poor people. and by under his tenure, i mean after he stopped the massive bloodletting caused by the bush administration, which took a good 2 years to accomplish.

Agreed. If you remember in I believe the second political debate, I believe Obama and Romney both basically said that they don't care to bring the low income jobs that a company like Apple offers overseas back to America. Obama said that jobs like this aren't skilled and it's not what America needs.
Realistically though, we need jobs like that in our country. There will always be people who are qualified, great workers, and those who are not. We need manufacturing low wage jobs for people like this. Although they may pay low, at least this sector of citizens wouldn't need near as much government assistance in their lives.

I don't have a huge issue with Food stamps in principle. They are a good canary in the coal mine statistic. Since the bulk of that graph is the Obama years, however, one cannot deny that a 12-13 million person spike in 4 years is not a good sign.
as i pointed out, the first 2 years of the obama presidency were spent stopping the bush recession from becoming a depression. under obama, the rate of food stamp increase leveled out immensely once the decline in our economy stopped.
And as has been pointed out numerous times, can't blame Bush for everything. Praise be Obama, but that tells us nothing about how you are going to get the same 12-13 million people off food stamps because the Administration's lack of any fiscal plan whatsoever leads me to believe they have no idea how to do it.
as i pointed out, the first 2 years of the obama presidency were spent stopping the bush recession from becoming a depression. under obama, the rate of food stamp increase leveled out immensely once the decline in our economy stopped. but hey, if you want to blame obama for problems that were caused before he took office, because he could not wave a magic wand and eliminate them after becoming president, that is your perogative and one you will find has much support on this forum.
The plan is to keep doing what works. The economy is projected to create 12 million jobs over the next four eyars.
Parasite Nation grows from dependence. Parasite Nations' motto: A dependent person is a good thing to have.I've changed my mind zimmer. You are right. It would be much better if 47.1 million Americans were starving. I wish I could change my vote.
I think its pretty pathetic your attacks on the "parasites". You bitch and moan about "class warfare" because Obama wants to raise taxes on the rich but then you come and attack people for taking federal assistance. I think its pretty pathetic and low.

Parasite Nation fear some people making money, lots of money so the fark the masses.
Why not cut taxes, let freedom reign, and grow the economy by motivating people to be prosperous? Let them keep their money so they can create jobs?
But no... Parasite Nation is too Narrow too Envious to let that happen.
If Parasite Nation worked... why did Obama fail? He spent 6 Trillion.
The "party"? You do realize under dems and republicans they both give federal assistance.....I complain about the party
There is only one socialist in government here in this country. His name is Bernie Sanders.and the Socialists,
So you complain about poor people?the Parasites and Ignoramuses that creates Parasite Nation...
What that you attack the poor because they take federal assistance?you know it, but good try.
There will always be fluctuation, for example from October 08 to December 09 it dropped sharply, only to rebound later. But it is still slightly going up at the end again if you see, and it tends to keep rising according to the graph here.
