Hyperbole much? They could have imposed a $300 limit per card. Starve to DEATH....
Right? Like walmart has any qualms about turning people away any other day
I don't know if they turn people away.
if that was the case, people wouldn't be constantly converting their EBT card into cash by selling the food they buy with it.
go in there and try to buy some groceries without any cash. I guarantee you you don't walk out with anything
First of all, show me this happens "constantly." Once you've done that, answer me this: without demand, there's no supply, right? And what would be the demand here?
I have seen a video of it and if you can say that the people were starving it would be a joke Walmart Food Stamps Glitch: Shelves Emptied In Shopping Stampede [Watch] no one was malnourished one woman had a obese look to her

Legal definitions trump your personal opinion. This wasn't taken by force, unlawfully, or embezzled. It was taken with the full consent of Wal-Mart and its employees. I don't understand what is worse. That you can't define what kind of theft this was or that you can't place blame where blame is due. If a company makes a mistake and customers take full advantage of it, it's not theft. For example, I have gone to the store and decided to purchase an item. When it was rung through, the pricing on the shelf was different than that which was shown. When that mistake is made most stores have a policy of honoring the price on the shelf EVEN if it is a mistake. That's not theft.
In this case, Wal-Mart ignored the EBT limits. That's not the customer's problem. It's Wal-Mart's.
No it was part and parcel of why this story was posted here in the first place.

Just a little story: I have a co-worker who is Hispanic. Who won his citizenship under Reagan amnesty. He lives in a largely Hispanic middle class neighborhood, and has friends and neighbors "all" of which he claims use ebt cards (they might be called snap here). He knows his community as a whole applies for assistance under false pretenses. He refuses to drink his friend's beer when offered because his friend's family receives food stamps while making better than 50K, per year in construction. This is not the exception in that Hispanic community, fraud is rampant.
Need I remind you what happens every time any person suggests that any spending is unnecessary?
Daily Kos: Vote on Republican food stamp starvation bill expected today#
do you find it ironic that you're using this argument to remove responsibility from walmart?
jesus, talk about your corporate fellating
First of all, show me this happens "constantly."

Yes.

I think you just did it again. I saw no mention of race in the discussion until you brought it up. If you can read the mind of the original poster, then your ESP is superior to mine. Aren't you one who complains that people infer things that you did not say? Seems unfortunate that you are doing that to others.
Is it ok to steal someone's belongings, just because they left theor house unkocked?
Did youvread far enough into the thread to see where I didn't let wal mart off the hooj
the way you're excusing fraudulent behavior by peopke who are already getting free ****?
Walmart is damned, either way
while you people give a free pass, at the most lip service, to the welfare classers that participated in this embaressibg behavior.
And you would have been ok when a riot broje out and someone got hurt, or killed?
Don't lie...you would have condemned walnart for that too
go hang out in front of any ghetto grocery store around the first of the month. Not my problem you live some sheltered and naive existence, and it certainly doesn't serve as some type of proof here
People buying food at an extreme discount? Not sure why you would assume only "hungry" people would look to save money.
I will agree EBT is frequent in the Hispanic community, however it's not fraud. Realistically most Hispanic males do work construction or other type of those jobs but probably make no more than $17/hr, which would equal more or less $33,000.00/yr. No way are most of them they making $26/hr or roughly more than $50,000.00 a year even in construction, that is a very rare exception. And most of the time the mother is a stay at home mom. Then taking it at the 133% fpl eligibility in most states and on average Hispanic families have about 3-4 children and a retired parent or two living with them and they more than qualify. You know a co-worker, I live it.
How does that strike you as an apt analogy when walmart a)knew there was an issue with the system and b) allowed these purchases to go through anyway? Honestly, what type of totally inept attempt at logic is this?
No, I saw you post numerous times in a manner that made them sound as victims, as you just did above ...
You mean the people who I have called for being prosecuted for welfare fraud? Maybe next time you can try to stumble through this while making some sense
lol, no, numerous other stores did the exact opposite of what walmart did
dude, you just cast walmart as some victim here, as opposed to an entity who was trying to swindle the govt, as well. Me, I'm consistent. I think the welfare moops and walmart are guilty. it's not my fault that you and others are so partisan that you feel a need to excuse one side or another
I've been approached more than a couple times to buy $100.00 worth of groceries for $50.00. In my experience, people will exchange food stamps for pretty much anything and do.
Dont lie. You inow damn good and well you would condemn walmart, either way.
other stores did exactly that and no riot ensued. And if one did ensue, that's why we have things like police, k-9 units and fire hoses
unlike you, mate, I can entertain complex ideas and reason out both sides are at fault. So don't project your intellectual failings on me
