The Northern California community of Plumas Lake has broken ground on its first full-service grocery store, as first reported by CBS Sacramento. The Yuba County census-designated place located 30 minutes north of Sacramento has been around since about 2003 and is considered a food desert...

Plumas Lake’s approximately 8,000 residents (as of 2023) have had to drive 8 to 10 miles to get to the nearest full-service grocery store.

Tbh conservatives are far more likely to be overweight and obese from my personal experience. They also love their cheap big gulps. Compared to libs who are more likely to drink black coffee or tea.

In my experience is about 50/50 but then again I don't think being in a lower income neighborhood makes you more likely to be Democratic or Republican

Who in the US doesn't have access to them it's not like they're expensive they are often times cheaper than junk food.

You can make the argument that they take more labor but that's a different argument than food deserts.

The whole idea never passed the sniff test with me sure enough there's some good research indicating that it's not much of a thing.

Poor people that are fat( and there are a lot of them) are fat not because they can't get good cheap nutritious food.
they're fat because they eat too much unhealthy food by their own choice.
