Unclear on what your first question was asking.I am not gay and I am not current on which states discriminate against members of the LGBTQ community.
I only know what I read.
So what is the LGBTQ community to ensure "the LGBTQ community is treated the same as the heterosexuals among us legally?" Do you know? Do you care?
About 20 states have anti-discrimination laws specifically protecting L.G.B.T.Q. people.
The laws explicitly protect people from being refused services or otherwise discriminated against in public because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Federal law protects Americans from being discriminated against in public places like retail stores on the basis of disability and “race, color, religion or national origin.”

Many states go further. Colorado is one of about 20 states, along with the District of Columbia, that have laws explicitly protecting people from being refused services or otherwise discriminated against in public because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Additionally, several states interpret existing laws against sex discrimination to apply to bias relating to sexual orientation and gender identity, even though they do not have laws explicitly forbidding such discrimination.
In states that do not offer protections to gay and transgender people on those grounds, municipal laws cover many residents.
The Human Rights Campaign, an L.G.B.T.Q. advocacy organization, joined a friend-of-the-court brief arguing that an exemption in the case decided on Friday would undermine state and federal public-accommodation laws.

The Catholic Church has as an organization has been proven to be active in protecting 'employees'. Individual Catholics are no more likely to be a pedophile than any other religious group.I worry about people lacking common sense who would paint an entire group as guilty of "grooming" = whatever that means.
What the hell? So because some oppression is not as bad as others, it should be ignored? This is not getting better. Accepting of small acts of oppression leads to acceptance of bigger acts.I wrote: "That's like Jews in Nazi Germany knowing their lives were in danger and did not do enough to hide their Jewishness."
If your son in high school was threatened for his gayness the way Jews in Nazi Germany were threatened for their religion, your attitude toward being in a "better position to fight fascists and radical religious beliefs, standing up to fight back against those trying to oppress others" would be vastly different.
Kids in high school are not prone to killing gays or shipping them off to be exterminated.
So you believe it's a good thing that so many gays are coming out of the closet and being harassed/bullied in high school? What the hell? So because some oppression is not as bad as others, it should be ignored? This is not getting better. Accepting of small acts of oppression leads to acceptance of bigger acts.
You're painting Catholics with a broad and ignorant brush. The Catholic Church has as an organization has been proven to be active in protecting 'employees'. Individual Catholics are no more likely to be a pedophile than any other religious group.
Broad yes, ignorant? Have you been paying any attention to what is going on regarding Catholic Church pedophilia? You're painting Catholics with a broad and ignorant brush.
Yes, but I don't condemn an entire organization because of a few bad apples.Broad yes, ignorant? Have you been paying any attention to what is going on regarding Catholic Church pedophilia?
When the rot has reached the very top of the organization, you condemn the organization no matter how many incidents have occurred.Yes, but I don't condemn an entire organization because of a few bad apples.
That would be like a Progressive condemning an entire political party because there are crappy politicians who need to be outd and ousted.
Or like a rabid Republican who really believes Joe Biden is as corrupt as his son, Hunter. Oh wait, that still might be true.
Too bad Biden and Pelosi don't share your view of the Catholic Church. When the rot has reached the very top of the organization, you condemn the organization no matter how many incidents have occurred.
Pope John Paul II 'aware of child abuse', Polish TV alleges
An investigation has accused the former head of the Catholic Church of trying to avoid the scandal by sending priests from one parish to another.www.euronews.com
Don't use politicians religion like it's important. They believe in their faith, they took an oath to the Constitution.Too bad Biden and Pelosi don't share your view of the Catholic Church.
That's like Biden and Pelosi stating they are Catholic and then supporting whatever method of abortion in order to maintain political power.
But I was a great altar boy and very leery of a Hungarian priest who was a real SOB.
Sure glad I am no longer a devout Catholic.
A state Governor shaking the hand of a local police officer. And, a decorated Navy veteran, reservist wearing a military style uniform. Shocking. Not.Let's get back to the thread, how about? What has become abundantly clear is that Ron DeFascist prefers to stack everything against reality and see if any of it sticks. The problem is, he's just so obvious about it. He's trying to ride the right-wing CT train into the White House, emphasis on the white, by proposing every white nationalist fantasy as policy. Misogyny? Check. Anti-LGBT? Check. Racism? Check. Xenophobia? Check. He's a rodeo clown, complete with silly costumes.

The NEA is a left wing partisan organization.I’ve never heard of any left-wing partisan organizations hand-crafting public school curriculum, much less any that have openly admitted it is indoctrination.
Because teaching evolutionary biology and that you can't "pray away the gay" is not the same thing as teaching that cutting taxes to millionaires "lifts all boats" or saying slavery was a good thing because it taught the enslaved useful skills.
This is not a "both sides" issue. It's about education vs misinformation.
Florida OKs school materials aimed at making students conservatives
Gov. Ron DeSantis repeatedly says he opposes indoctrination in schools. Yet his administration in early July approved materials from a conservative group that says it’s all about indoctrination and…www.orlandosentinel.com
Florida is moving to brainwash the youth, force feeding partisan political propaganda to children. It seems the CRT scare was more projection.
Anyone going to defend this?
What idiot would actually say that?Misinformation? Like claiming that anyone wants to teach that "slavery was a good thing?"
What idiot would actually say that?
Do you have an actual reference as to who could be so stupid?
Or is that just a pointed example of misinformation?
You mean all eight pages to find out the idiot who said that?Try reading the thread.

The American federation of teachers is an openly progressive group that puts their curriculum in schools.Everything is politically biased. It cannot be avoided. Some material or teacher may have a conservative or liberal bias and that's ok.
But not everything is factually correct.
US education is inherently biased towards making the US look good. Ok, whatever. Of course it is. But would you say the same thing if we introduced Russian propaganda to our schools to "show both sides"?
PragerU is openly and explicitly a propaganda machine.
Name a single left leaning org that is openly a political propaganda org that has their curriculum in schools. The left leaning equivalent of PragerU would be like allowing BLM or something to produce media and show it in schools.
Well since you libs started the culture war by trying to force wokeness on the kids, this is a reaction to that, so if you want someone to blame, go look in a mirror.Florida OKs school materials aimed at making students conservatives

It seems to be the Right getting their panties in a bunch and book banning. Why clutch your pearls when the pendulum swings in the other direction?
