I saw this bit of news come across CTV, and decided to do a little research. Not research into the substance of the ruling, but rather research into the celebratory victory Tweet Governor DeSantis did in response to the ruling.
The DeSantis Tweet segment in question, is the last quote in my O.P. Here it is again below, with my adding emphasis to the part I'm focusing upon:
Voting is a "privilege"? This is the attitude of the FL Republican governor? Whether Fruedian slip or not, I find this statement appalling.
What do you consider the difference between a privilege and a right?
Ethical arguments aside, strictly speaking from the finacial aspect. It is less expensive for the gov to fund parole/probation programs than it is to keep someone incarcerated.Let me explain the reasons for this ruling. When a person goes on Probation, instead of going to prison, they are charged court fees and probation fees. We have many probationers that finish probation, but don't pay their court costs and fees. These are the people who will not be able to vote, until they pay off their debt to the state. These fees help lower YOUR TAXES. If someone is on probation, should they pay for that or should your tax dollars pay for it?
Sadly. If constitutional, I must say I disagree. But it is what it is, and as an American I swore to support & defend the entire thing, both that I like and otherwise. And part of that is I defer to SCOTUS. So, here I sit.
so allowing felons to get their right to vote back is smashing democracy?
please explain.

The whole idea for republicans it seems is to punish someone as long and as severely as possible. It's not to pay your debt to society for screwing up, nope, it's to punish you.

You said:
So since I care about all voters what you said was a lie.
Depriving felons the right to vote has a rich, racist history.
these are fines in accordance with a judicial sentence. The law states that to get your rights back you must complete your sentence.
that would include any and all fines that were addressed.
Do Felons pay taxes?
I imagine that most felons won't vote anyways. I'd like to see a study.
But you then said why should democrats pay for republican voters which means you only care about your tribe, not people in general. So, no lie. I would also add that you really dont even care about your own poor, you only care that they are able to vote. So you care once every two years. After that, you dont give a **** what happens to them.
Really? What is it? And why would that matter anyway since the voting restrictions now apply to all felons regardless of race? Looks like someone felt the urge to play the race card. You guys just cant help yourselves
I mean, one could argue that in that case there are no rights, only government granted privileges.
What do you consider the difference between a privilege and a right?
Yes because no American can escape paying US taxes. Whether in space or living anywhere on earth.

Then they should have a say, right?
First amendment rights have not been taken away, restricted perhaps, but not taken away.
