Just as stupid as their Georgian counterparts it sounds like. How pathetic and sad.

The proposal is similar to a measure in Georgia’s sweeping new election law that bans giving water, food or gifts to voters waiting in line, among many other restrictions. President Joe Biden, in condemning Georgia's law as “outrageous” and “Jim Crow in the 21st Century," singled out that provision as evidence of suppressive intent in a state he flipped blue for the first time in decades.

"If you want any indication that it has nothing to do with fairness, nothing to do with decency, they pass a law saying you can't provide water for people standing in line while they're waiting to vote," he said on Friday.

You could improve confidence by not putting out mis/disinformation!

Georgia Republicans have said the state's election laws needed tightening to improve voter confidence.

AS we all know, Republicans do NOT like losing:

For years, campaigns and other groups have distributed water, sent food trucks and had pizza delivered to voters waiting in long lines to cast a ballot. Amid a nationwide effort by Republican lawmakers to tighten voting laws in the wake of an election their nominee lost, the practice has come under fire.

LOL
Duh, you can not solicit within 150 feet within a polling place. That means you cannot wear political messages on your shirt or hat and you can't give gifts of any of value, including money, food or water.
But the left knows people are stupid and they will believe crap like this. Water stations are available at polling places. Better yet bring your own food and water and stop complaining your not getting FREE food and water.

Fascists: Spreading voter suppression like the coronavirus

14th and 15th Amendments: Exist

LOL Duh yourself.

Handing out food & water to people standing in long lines is not solicitation or sending political messages to influence voters.

It's being a decent human being and helping Americans vote.

Shutting this down is blatant voter suppression and is as anti-American as it gets. So is shutting down the Souls to the Polls early Sunday voting.

So rather than fix the problem of people having to wait in long lineups these politicians look for ways to make it more unpleasant to be in line.

The GOP is a dying party and they know it. This is how a drowning man pulls down everyone around him.

Can SCOTUS shut down these laws, I wonder?

The voter suppression by the GOP is getting really out of hand.

Damn but rightists just looove them some strong, powerful authority. You already got a law against soliciting at polling places, it makes sense to not allow that, but handing someone a water bottle? You want to give the government authority to stop you from handing someone a water bottle? How much of this kind of crap are you willing to tolerate?
"Take away any basic right you want if it will piss off the left!"
Ever hear the phrase, "cutting off your nose to spite your face"?
Duh!

So rather than fix the problem of people having to wait in "long lineups" these politicians look for ways to make it more unpleasant to be in line.
Where, specifically, were the "long lineups" in the most recent election. I'm aware there were machine issues in the GA primary which caused long lines, but an article I read recently indicated that was not a problem in the November general election.
Then, if there were "long lineups" in various places throughout the country, did that location have other voting options and times and were these "long lineups" just a result of people giving no thought/plan to voting until the last day and hours?
My point is, are posters fabricating and imagining "long lineups" so they can fabricate a reason to complain that poll workers being able to pass out water, voters being able to bring their own water bottles, and self serve water dispensers being allowed for voters to be able to serve themselves - isn't just fine and more that sufficient. Are posters simply inventing/imagining line problems in order to dramatize non-existent water problems?

We all saw the lineups on TV. Some were more than 10 hours long. I've been voting all my adult life and have never encountered a lineup.

The lines in the states only exist in black neighborhoods. My white town has no line at all. We can vote as soon as we arrive.

De Santis should be put in a room with no water or food for 10 days and be forced to exercise 4 hours a day.

IMO this complaint is because they want to overlook the problem with those who are "giving gifts" of water, goods, and other things who may be using this gimmick to proselytize voters.

But there isn't supposed to be any "campaigning" around a voting location. People are supposed to be given the opportunity to vote without being harassed, bullied, bribed, or otherwise influenced.

The efforts are to protect the vote from abuses by any party who seeks to pressure or otherwise unduly influence a voter.

IMO the Left is pushing all out efforts designed to allow them such "undue influence." Vote harvesting, not checking ID or signature records, mass mailing without purging the records of voters who've died or moved away, etc..

To me, that is the real "voter suppression" threat.

What, a politician actually do something constructive. Get out of here.

red states will try to out voter suppress each other until they are forced to stop. hence, congress should force them to stop.

It sure is. Fraud "openings" like they want have great potential to suppress the proper weight/significance of legally cast, valid, single votes.

If there is already a law forbidding campaigning within certain number feet of a polling site then why do we need another law. Why not just enforce the current law?

It is always Make A New Law, that ought to do it. Dumbasses

I just googled and can see evidence of the 10 hour wait time reported in GA due to voting machine issues in the 2020 primary (already noted). I can find nothing about a 10 hour wait in the general election, in GA or other states. Please provide your sources.

There is an excellent reason there are over 250 election bills in various states. It's because there was such little confidence in the integrity of the 2020 election. Our citizens should have high confidence in the integrity of U.S. elections! It's critical.
And, as a reminder to you, Dems were concerned about election integrity too. I recall especially the McConnell race and others with GOP winners, were the topic of threads where Dem concern was expressed.

Typical deplorable assholes.

They can't win if they can't make voting difficult.

I agree that we have an overabundance of "law."

However, the fact remains that if you give a human being an inch, we will take a mile.

I have been in voting lines where people have been passing out "water and gifts" and used that gimmick to ask about who I am voting for, then trying to convince me of a "better choice."

Am I going to lose my place in line to "complain?" Nope, although I do when I get to a place where an official is.

Oh, please tell me of all the fraud in the 2020 election.....

You believed a bunch of liars and con artists.

Republicans lost because they formed a cult around a circus clown, and America's gag reflex is still partially intact. they understand that their path to victory involves making it as hard as possible for people to vote, so that's what they are doing.

So you are attempting to counter my position by posting an example that supports my position. Good job.
