Florida courts could take 'emergency' custody of kids with trans parents or siblings — even if they live in another state

Do you think it's "humane" to give a 13-year-old a hysterectomy because she decides that she's a boy?
Got any stats or real facts to back up that allegation?

Cool. So if a trans parent enters the state of Florida, even if they live in another state, the STATE can kidnap their child? If this bill passes, it basically makes being a parent and being trans illegal. And what does "at risk" of receiving gender-affirming care ****ing mean? How do they determine the "risk" before they rip your child from you?!

**** this ****ing shithole sewage drain of a state. If this law passes there is no way it will hold up in court, but this is where the GOP is at these day.

God help us all if they ever get control of the federal government.

So basically, Florida's saying being trans is a mental disorder, even though that's not what the professional psychiatric or psychological community says.

Is it your business?
It is indeed the business of the state to protect children.
It is indeed the business of society to protect children.

This is only about treatments for minors

You should be able to address the hypothetical, even on its own.

It is absolutely my business to protect kids
I wonder if you have any idea of the harm and hurt this type of false narrative has on people struggling with issues related to sexuality. It is a very serious psychological and physiological issue best left to professionals. You and others know no more about this than any other medical or mental issue. Git opinions on cancer treatments? How about transplants? Go look for some real facts not all this right wing conspiracy BS from people who think they know it all and have the right to force their beliefs on others.

You must be one busy person running all over the country protecting kids, or do you do it from the internet? If I had kids and you in your infinite wisdom decided my kids needed protecting and you are going to provide it, you and me are going to have some big problems. If someone decides they are in the wrong body, who the hell are you to tell them, you're wrong, I'll protect you. Like I said, mind your own business.

The gop is turning into big brother from 1984.

You don't address hypotheticals with real laws. Laws that can be misused by those with an agenda.

When kids were being raped in the catholic church did you say....it's none of my business?

This law deals with quite a but more than that.

This is like arguing for the wholesale removal, books from school libraries because one might contain pictures of a blow job.

and put religion back in the closet and throw away the key. If these yahoos want to violate the constitution, I'd like to see them get a dose of their medicine and strip them of the religious freedom they think gives them the right to be inhumane.
Rescuing children from abuse is the opposite of inhumane. But your maniacal fantasy about stripping citizens of their liberty is quite telling. Thanks for pulling back the veil.

I don't see that

You're not in a position to see it b/c nobody's writing laws about you or trying to limit what you can do. It's different when you're on the receiving end, which I am not in this case, but I am at least aware of what these legislative efforts are all about -- that's kind of what it means to be woke, actually. Being aware of other people's condition and empathizing with them.

"God" is the issue here. Fundamentalists, puritans and bigoted ignorance seem to be the rule.

Lots of laws limit what I can do. But if this law is to protect kids from these treatments I support it

What "abuse"? Are you assuming that merely having a LGBTQ parent is in itself abusive, because that's what the religious throwbacks in Florida are saying. They are assuming a "risk" with no evidence, and would try to remove a child from its parents based on nothing more damning than presumed guilt.

I don't think that's what this law says

Giving kids puberty blockers is clearly child abuse.
