I am still not sure how to precede. It seems that 3 names are missing from the original Yes vote. There also maybe more people interested in coming on board. The original thread/poll regarding this matter closes on December 4, 2014. I have voted no to the list. If we do end up with a majority yes vote I guess it would still be possible to add others at the discretion of the convention.

What is this?

That's fair. I also think any member of DP should be able to participate at any time. I also propose that initially we focus on a Bill of Rights. That way we can get the most important things on the table initially.

Maybe everyone could suggest their top three issues they want to address then you, as our modern day Thomas Jefferson :) could tally them. If, for example, Freedom of Speech was the most suggested one we could then work on drafting that portion and vote on it. Then move onto the next one. Of course, I have no idea what I am talking about.

Yes. Aye. Da. Si. Oui.

No: I was having an ice cream.

:)

It is the beginnings of the DP Constitutional Convention I assume you voted you would like to participate in.

Yes, I'm present. I don't quite approve of all the members but I do approve the majority of them. I won't say which members as they do have a right to be in this also and I figure might as well not spark flames.

First we have to do the boring stuff.

Fine. :(

So, what percentage must we have for any particular measure to pass? Simple majority? 2/3rd?

Probably a simple majority but the end product will be signed by 100% of the remaining members. We, the convention, get to determine what is required. In the beginning stages a few leaders will make the rules but eventually we will all make the rules as a body. I'm estimatingvthis project to take 3 years minimum. I wouldn't get to impatient. This type of thing is really boring and mundane. Don't get involved unless you really believe in this project.

As of now it is 2/3rds of the current number of participants which is apparently approximately 37. Right now I have asked people nominate those they think would make a good Convention Secretary and President. The Secretary for recording votes and final document sections. The President for guiding and moderating and calling for votes. With a President and Secretary in place we can then move to rules of the convention and then start on the draft process. That's the current plan anyhow.

Should be interesting. I hope that you mods have a game plan though lol.

Yes and yes. Let's proceed.

I agree that we should do the boring structural stuff first-- functions of government and enumerated powers. One, this will ensure we're all committed before we get to stuff like rights, and two, I think it'll be the easiest material to work with. Nobody's going to shed blood over building roads and maintaining the postal service.

I am afraid you've lost me. The convention is interesting. We had established that. But I do not quite see where we are here.

yet, I think you meant your last sentence to end in 'yet'.

:)

No and HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL NO

I'm not in the list Q_Q

You are correct. Grand Mal and radioman are not on the list either. This list of members may not be adopted. Even if it is we can add members later as needed. If we do this right people will be dropping out and joining as more progress is made.

Well, the poll closes November 4th.
I think we should allow new members until then.
As you have said, this is going to be a long term project.
No reason to rush.
