Elon is a Russian asset!
Former National Security Council official Fiona Hill says she believes Elon Musk is "transmitting a message" for Russian President Vladimir Putin with his peace proposal for resolving the war in Ukraine.

Parts of the proposal were "very specific," said Hill in an interview with Politico, arguing those details likely came from Putin himself.

**** Musk and **** Putin. There is no peace until Russia leaves Ukraine.

Ill put you down for endless war.. No negotiated peace means just that

That is kind of what you get when you invade a nation but are not able to fully occupy it and decapitate its government. It takes two sides to negotiate a peace.

And even if the United States and its allies were to pull all its support for Ukraine today, that does not automatically mean the Ukrainians capitulate to some Carthaginian peace imposed by the Russians upon them.

She's probably right. And just for the record, a useful idiot can be an asset.

Says the person who has no problem with Russia's terrorist invasion of Ukraine.
first i never supported the invasion -
but the point is if there isn't a negotiated peace there is only a hot war tamped down that can reignite at any time.
The nations are next to each other.. terms and conditions along with the border being established are needed if the war is to end and not just simmer and reignite

correct. there has to be a negotiated peace accepted by both sides

Neo-McCarthyism is definitely the dominant ideology among our political discourse. It really is astounding to see so many intelligent people accuse anyone that doesn't stomp their feet and say, "Russia has to stop!" as the only approved words or thoughts is a Russian agent. I mean, we have everyone doing that "Russia has to stop!" thing right now and so far....ummm...the results are death and destruction without an end in site.

everybody is a "Russian asset"
Except that when you quote Hill directly, she makes a credible point.

"It’s very clear that Elon Musk is transmitting a message for Putin. There was a conference in Aspen in late September when Musk offered a version of what was in his tweet — including the recognition of Crimea as Russian because it’s been mostly Russian since the 1780s — and the suggestion that the Ukrainian regions of Kherson and Zaporizhzhia should be up for negotiation, because there should be guaranteed water supplies to Crimea. He made this suggestion before Putin’s annexation of those two territories on September 30. It was a very specific reference. Kherson and Zaporizhzhia essentially control all the water supplies to Crimea. Crimea is a dry peninsula. It has aquifers, but it doesn’t have rivers. It’s dependent on water from the Dnipro River that flows through a canal from Kherson. It’s unlikely Elon Musk knows about this himself. The reference to water is so specific that this clearly is a message from Putin."

That's called knowing history. Also, Ukraine had cut off water to Crimea, which composed 95% of their fresh water resources. That's a human rights violation right there.

Because that's what that position results in.
Not necessarily. Russia can only punch itself in the face for so long, and their military is stretched to its breaking point, whereas Ukraine enjoys high morale, leadership, logistics, and vast assistance from an array of other countries. Russia's on limited time, and they'll have to leave eventually.

That's called knowing history.

And I don't buy that explanation. After speaking with Putin he makes extremely pointed and specific concessions, so "knowing history" on these narrow points isn't a compelling explanation.

Also, Ukraine had cut off water to Crimea, which composed 95% of their fresh water resources. That's a human rights violation right there.

I'm not getting into that nonsense.

Dude is a Russian stooge.

If Russia were interested in ending a war IT STARTED by invaded Ukraine, the first thing it would do is stop bombing the shit out of Ukraine.

You do not need to be a professional negotiator or a foreign policy expert to understand this.

McCarthyism went quite a bit further.

Oh please. So now Hill is claiming Musk is a Putin propagandist? She's as bad a warmonger/Russiaphobe as any of them
but Musk is quite familiar with Ukraine geography as he operates the Starlink for Ukraine communications

Hill just wants war with Russia -nothing new from her. any attepmts at a negotiated peace are against her desires

He spoke with Putin, and voila! He transmits extremely narrow and specific demands with Russian talking points, painting Russians as victims.

Just accept the obvious.

It isand anyone at all familiar with the buildup to the war understands the basics

Apparently you don't understand how trust works, and how Russia has violated every agreement it ever had with Ukraine. I'm not about to walk you through it.
