So wait, if its a white dood it would be malicious and of racist intent, as in your false claims about the tea party, but because the dood is black, it was not malicious and racist?
i can't believe this. the man should be fired. This is the kind of racial bias that should be weeded out of schools. I am against modifying the curriculum to remove African, Latin, or Asian perspectives from American history, but people shouldn't be excluded from school events and trips because of the colour of their skin.
Ridiculous.
hardly the same, but thanks anyway.Perhaps whites should gather enmasse to reenact the march to Selma, Alabama....
The reaction would immediate, severe, polarizing and set back race relations 50 years....
....and provide me a good chuckle.
so now you are intent on measuring the degrees of racism
in what direction would your own be measured?
Non-existent. I think in order to be a color blind society, one needs to be colorblind....
I rarely notice race.
yes, i have noticed how indifferent you appear to be [/s]
You see what you want to see.... That's what makes you a partisan-hack.
gotta prefer that to being a racist sack

It sounds like discrimination to me. The principal of the school is Black, and of course defends this.
How much longer do Blacks get to get special status to make up for past racism? I feel like things like this only fuel racial animosities and tensions. If people want to provide special experiences for certain segments of the population, it should be done through private organizations.

One would think that it is just as important for white kids to see that a black person can become a scientist, maybe even more so....
After all, we now have our first black president, and a bit before that our first draft avoiding, coke sniffing, momma's boy, dumb white president....
The bar has been lowered, anybody can become president, but it still takes brains and effort to become a scientist...
What does GWB have to do with any of this?
I don't understand why they couldn't just have the scientist come to the school and give an motivational talk for all the students. You don't help a kid do better in school by having him/her miss classes that the other kids are attending. I also wonder what the black kids who are doing well in school felt about being lumped in with the underachievers. Talk about a message backfiring. :doh
Good point. This whole thing backfired on them. LOL, and now we're talking about it ad nauseum.
I think it crystallizes some of the quandaries presented by misguided attempts to address past racial injustices. I really feel that it's time for our nation to move beyond that. Treat the Black underclass as you would the White underclass. Give them guidance and assistance when possible, try not to stigmatize them, try and educate their parents, and realize that many of these efforts will be futile.
The problems these kids encounter in life isn't really the fault of the system. They, in fact, result from a high rate of illegitimacy to start with. Single, uneducated mothers, drug and alcohol abuse, violent neighborhoods. These are problems in the poor Black community that they are doing to themselves. They need to clean up their own house.
