Concern over getting crunched by a larger vehicle keeps use out of the clown cars
Fiat has controlled Chrysler since the Diamler-Chrysler days and the restructuring. That they now have full control - I don't see much changing. Fiat would be idiotic to try and push small cars in NA and go full blown moron with that idea. That said, there's a place for small cars in urban cities on both coasts that may work to their advantage with a few models. If they kill off RAM and some of the iconic retro cars like the Charger and Challenger due to their full control, I'll go back to becoming a Ford man.
Fix It Alla Time
I'm always amazed at the justifications friends and acquaintances will use to buy a pick up trick. 'No man, I really move a lot of stuff. Like I had to move to my apartment and I could have never done that without the pickup.' The dick pumping that people get from big cars is so mystifying to me.
Some people do need a truck. Try doing carpentry work out of the back of a compact car, or hauling firewood in a hatchback. However, most people that have them don't have them because they really need them, but rather its because they like driving them. In their case, I agree, its ridiculous to drive a gas guzzler then bitch about the price of gas (especially considering that by driving a gas guzzler you are part of the problem when it comes to high gas prices). I used to drive a 4wd Crew Cab Colorado. I always liked driving trucks and they fit with my lifestyle in that it was easy to throw fishing equipment in the back, a canoe on it, throw my road bike in it and so on. Plus the 4wd was nice in the snow and when I needed to get up a jeep road to a trail head. However, when gas started getting really expensive I traded in the truck for a little Kia Soul. I got literally twice the mpg, have plenty of space to throw stuff in the back like fishing equipment or my road bike, and if I need to get up a poorly maintained forest service road to a trailhead I just drive my wife's Subaru. I still liked driving trucks better, but its not enough to justify the piss poor mpg they get.
As a side note, my Kia Soul actually has better crash test ratings than my truck did, and being it stops much quicker its probably a safer vehicle to drive.
I just love the Kia Soul, which I consider a knockoff of my Scion. I mean that in a nice way.
I have neighbors that do carpentry and gardening. Of course they have big old pickups.
Also, I don't have a bad attitude toward the Hummer drivers, unless they complain about gas prices. If you can afford to drive a giant vehicle, you have every right to do so. But why?
That car looks like it would overheat pretty easily. How is it pulling air in through those tiny little vents for a grill?

If I do buy one more car in my life, it will be even smaller than my Scion. But this is likely my last car.

Why would anybody have an attitude toward a Hummer driver other than to feel sorry for their stupidity.
A Hummer 2 is a re-bodied Silverado and a Hummer 3 is a re-bodied Colorado.
They got taken on the price for those common trucks.

I love little wagons and I hope Fiat forces the competition to make more of these types.
Last year, I heard all this crying about the price of gas. But the best selling vehicles were heavy pickup trucks. So, apparently that $3.50 gas didn't ruin the economy. But some of us need a vehicle that is small but carries a decent load of groceries and such.
I was just using Hummer as a general term for oversized "see my huge penis" vehicles in general. But this morning, I almost got hit by a Hummer who whipped his penis out of his parking space without noticing me behind him. Fortunately, no collision.
But really I meant I don't knock people who drive huge vehicles UNLESS they crab about gas prices in which case I respond by:roll:
When I lived in phoenix I was laughing all the time at the concrete cowboys. They put on their cowboy hats, boots, huge belt buckles and jump into their jacked up 4WD giant dually trucks and go clubbing. Their trucks never have a dent nor see any unpaved road and they themeselves would piss their pants if they ever saw a cow IRL.
It's a lot like the new Harley crowd. Just role playing through life.
The mileage on my car has been disappointing, only 19.5 but I have some really "bad" driving habits that result from my low vision. But it's just a perfect car and I don't drive much anymore.
I'm actually a little jealous of people that go out partying and clubbing. I'm not very social and I've always wished I were more outgoing but I'm bad at small talk and I never followed sports so it's hard for me to find compatible people to have fun with. I have enough, I';m not complaining. But....I wish I had a huge pickup truck and were going out to party tonight instead of posting on the internet.....
