And once again, the Democrats protect the criminals more than the citizenry.
Fentanyl - has become the nations largest drug related death counts in U.S. history.
Much coming through California.
Senate democrats are blocking bill that would increase punishment for trafficking this national pandemic-drug.

Paywall, can't read the article.

Have a link to the actual bill? Maybe another option for the article?

Like most of these things I would guess there is more to it.

Article is a year old.

Have anything more recent?

2021

Anything in 2024?

Is perhaps this the bill? Or is this one that some just wouldn't want to mention as it shows action being done by Democrats?

There's also this:

The bill passed the Senate unanimously in September. Gov. Gavin Newsom signed it in October, along with several treatment-focused fentanyl bills.

Was the plan here just to start a thread on an old issue that has already been resolved so you could somehow talk shit about Dems without giving the whole story, as in the most updated information?

It is still being stalled... I tried a non-conservative link, not realizing it is a year old.
If I included a recent link to a conservative news site - you would all dismiss it for being conservative.

The actual bill...

Does the time frame matter here at all?

Seriously?
It matters because there is currently a set of bi-partisan legislative bills - 14 in total, working their way through the CA legislature. Dubbed “working together for a safer CA”

Completely contradicting the OPs assertion

So 2021 and 2023 are not relevant.

Oh no, convicted dealers won't be read an admonishment in court? The lawlessness.

The measure will mandate that people who are convicted or charged with a fentanyl-related drug offenses be read the following admonishment by a court:

“You are hereby advised that all illicit drugs and counterfeit line 12 pills are dangerous to human life and become even deadlier when they are, sometimes unknowingly, mixed with substances such as fentanyl and analogs of fentanyl. People can and have died from these substances, even in very small doses. It is extremely dangerous and deadly to human life to sell or administer drugs, in any form, when not lawfully authorized to do so. If you do so in the future and a person dies as a result of that action, and you knew or should have known that the substance you provided contained fentanyl or a fentanyl analog, you may be charged with homicide, up to and including the crime of murder, within the meaning of Section 187 of the Penal Code. In addition, this warning may be considered by a judge or jury as to whether you knew or should have known that the substance you provided to the decedent contained fentanyl.”

I actually agree with the drug treatment part, but feel that there is a lot more to any Dem not wanting to pass this bill, likely that it has something else in it. Of course it's also possible that the Dems aren't keeping this particular bill back or are asking each simply be presented separately. I don't know because the OP only gave outdated info from the start and is now providing random links. You linked to a Democratic politician here in fact.

Dems love criminals because they themselves are criminals.
Says Republicans who voted for an actual rapist and fraudster and crook and traitor.

And some of those Republicans even deny that they're republicans. Go figure.

These are a bit older, not really "breaking news"

Also it should be noted that the bills were made by both Democrats and Republicans, so it isn't really honest to say the problem is Democrats are rejecting the bills, because some democrats are also pushing the bills.

The hesitation does make sense though, just selling the fentanyl, in my opinion, shouldn't be murder. They could raise the penalty based on how dangerous a particular drug is but murder seems a stretch.

The Democrats killed it in committee and, three years later, have yet to pass an alternative.

Several fentanyl related bills have been passed, including those in the link I posted from last year. If the same one the OP linked to down thread, with the Tom Umberg link, then the reading people an admonishment doesn't really seem necessary. And if the bill is to charge dealers with murder, that may be an issue, especially if not done case by case but automatic.

Should probably have led with that if they contradict what was posted.

Did you know that 250,000 people have died from fentanyl overdoses since 2018? That is a truly staggering number of human lives lost to drugs in a relatively short period of time.

And once again, the Democrats protect the criminals more than the citizenry.
The Democrats' / Liberals' / Progressives' legacy is de-policing, de-carceration, de-prosecution, increased crime rates and increased crime related injury and damages to the innocent.
