Feds cuts hitting home in local disaster area

This is certainly bad news, but is there more to this story? It just doesn’t make sense. I hope this isn’t part of his plan to eliminate FEMA. Personally, I don’t think FEMA has been a a successful agency. Money would be better spent by the states than the feds and the impact would a lot quicker.
One big problem there-
Does any state have the resources to handle a hurricane, flood, tornado by itself??? Even if they kept the money sent to Washington earmarked for FEMA, which is a difficult number to define as most times Congress is required to pass laws to send the money it takes to manage the event....
Should Floriduhhh rely on its own funds???
No FEMA marshals money and equipment from states because hurricanes and floods are overwhelming.
It is foolish to think a state can handle massive events by themselves.... ✌️

President Trump notified North Carolina this month that he is cancelling an agreement for our Local Food for Schools and Child Care Cooperative program. We were to receive $!9M in funding to purchase food for schools that is produced by local farmers and businesses. An additional $11M of funding is being withheld from the Local Food Purchase Assistance program that would have helped 66 local and regional farms. Many of these farms and businesses are on the brink of failure due to the impact of Hurricane Helene including our local food bank, MANNA, whose warehouse was destroyed.

This is super bad timing for our people who are still reeling from the hurricane - many of whom have no jobs, businesses, or homes to go back to. Even Steve Troxler, NC's Republican Agriculture Commissioner, said, "We are disappointed" by Trump's decision.

I'm sorry your community has to deal with thus.

I'm going to go against the grain and say that whether you're in a red or blue state we will all be struggling with a lot of the changes that are happening, and working class folk have got to stick together.

More fake news phony scandal political propaganda from government sponsored media. HHS Secretary Kennedy

"recommended in an article published March 2 on FOX News to take vitamin A under the supervision of a physician for those with mild, moderate and severe infections."

So, are physicians advising toxic levels of vitamin A, parents treating children without consulting a physician, or is it a fabricated story? Naw, Orange Man Bad is all the lynch mob means.

Or just ****ing vaccinate your ****ing kids instead of playing arsonist fireman with your kids' health and not even using the right ****ing flame retardant.

Not a word about the fake scandal.

Once the US becomes completely controled by the ultra wealthy and large companies maybe Trump fans will see that they aren't the benevolent overlords they seem to think they'll be.

There's a reason why we wen't away from the system of the middle ages of Lords with castles rulling with an iron fist while the masses starved and toiled in the fields but that's somehow what Trump fans seem to want to be brought back.

I hope you all like living in a dystopian, future hellscape.

The OP starts a thread making a claim, yet the OP did not provide a link to verify it. But obviously that didn't stop multiple posters posting on something that did not provide any proof. But because the majority who posted in this thread were happy to because it made Trump out to be the villain. Is that what it has come to on this forum?

The only hellscape is in your imagination.

Why would you expect there to be much mention of a fake scandal?
The topic of the thread is a fake scandal manufactured by the Orange Man Bad lynch mob.

Making Americans Hungry Again

The only hellscape is in your imagination.

Yes, things are going great under the awesome leadership of Trump already and it's only been a few months.

Do you think things will improve over the next 4 years or will it continue to be an utter shitshow?
How exactly will giving even more tax breaks to billionaires at the expense of everyone else help?
Has trickledown ever been shown to work or doe the same super rich just hoard the money?

I sure am glad that my political beliefs don't require me to be an idiot. (y)

That ship sailed decades ago. Of course its been put on steroids now.

Disappointed? Troxler should be outraged!

The damage from DJT II isn’t going to impact only blue states.

I hope Troxler and No Carolina remember the response from DC in November 2026.
Wait until Hurricane season. I'm dreading it the cuts to forecasting and reporting by NOAA.

The program did prioritize "historically underserved" producers, limited-resource farmers, and socially disadvantaged farmers. This means minorities. The term "historically underserved" is a broad category defined by the USDA to address systemic inequities in agriculture, encompassing various groups based on race, ethnicity, gender, and socioeconomic status.

This is NOT the job of government.
They supply you with food.

Neither do mine.

The difference is my political beliefs require me to research these fake news, phony scandal tales. The Orange Man Bad lynch mob simply parrots the talking points that feed their zealotry.
