Federal judge orders Trump campaign to provide evidence of Pa. voter fraud

Aug. 13 (UPI) -- A federal judge in Pennsylvania on Thursday ordered the Trump campaign and the Republican party to produce evidence of vote-by-mail fraud in the state.

District Judge J. Nicholas Ranjan called on President Donald Trump's re-election campaign to produce evidence supporting his claims of voter fraud in the state by Friday after it sued to ban dropboxes for mail ballots at county elections offices, CNN reproted.

"The Court finds that instances of voter fraud are relevant to the claims and defenses in this case," Ranjan wrote.

The Democratic Party and the Sierra Club wrote to the court on Wednesday requesting information and documents detailing how the Republican Party and the Trump campaign determined the possibility of fraud, particularly related to the use of dropboxes, ballot collection and mail-in ballots.

Lawyers representing the Democrats wrote that the Trump campaign "should not be permitted to raise such spectacular fraud-related claims, particularly in this national climate."

This wasn't spelled out, but they appear to be Amici curiae (friends of the court).

From the wikipedia page: Where a case may have broader implications, amicus curiae briefs are a way to articulate those concerns, so that the possibly broad legal or public policy implications of the court's anticipated decisions will not depend solely on the positions and arguments advanced by the parties directly involved in the case.

Trump had to disband his previous voter fraud commission or whatever it was called because no fraud was found.

They were never serious about finding any. It was staffed by all the well known right wing anti immigrant/voter suppression operatives (Kobach, Von Spasofsky, etc).

They quickly got about the business of their real objective. Which was running a voter caging operation on a national level. States, including quite a few red states, refused to go along.

And the effort fell apart.

What you are saying is that one side should be asked to "prove a positive" and the other side should be asked to "prove a negative" and that the side which fails to prove what it has been required to prove should lose.

On other words, if the side that is claiming that there is "massive voter fraud" can provide even a single instance of fraudulent voting and the other side cannot establish that 100% of the votes were "legitimate" (which would mean actually tracking down each and every voter and having the voter confirm that the ballot results that were recorded with respect to the ballot that they cast were actually in accord with the ballot that they cast), then the side that is claiming that there is "massive voter fraud" should prevail.

Oh no it doesn't work that way. Prove there is no voter fraud? No, let trump prove his claims there is voter fraud. Pointing fingers and saying voter fraud is not enough, unless of course you're a trump supporter. Then it's good enough.
