Federal Investigation Finds Pennsylvania Postal Worker’s Mail-In Ballot Fraud Allegation Was, You Guessed It, Utter Hogwash

An investigation by the U.S. Postal Service’s Inspector General into a Pennsylvania postal worker’s outlandish voter fraud allegations determined the claims were, as expected, total hogwash. The claims levied by mail carrier Richard Hopkins shortly after the Nov. election were so cartoonishly villainous that in a normal year with a normal president and a normal Republican political party the burden of proof would have been on Hopkins to prove that he wasn’t totally full of it. Instead, in 2020, Trump and his Republican allies, like South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, credulously lapped up Hopkins story. And what exactly was Hopkins story? That he “overheard” the local postmaster in Erie, Pennsylvania hatching a sinister plot to backdate ballots that arrived after the Nov. 3 deadline, passing them off as legitimate, so they would be counted. Trump, you may remember, lost Pennsylvania by nearly 200,000 votes. Yes, of course, Hopkins, just minding his own business, happened upon some casual federal election fraud office banter. It was always ludicrous, but it didn’t matter and Hopkins’ flimsy claim was sucked up into the right wing delusion that their guy Trump had been robbed and blasted out by Republicans, well, everywhere. On Nov. 10 Trump tweeted that Hopkins was a “a brave patriot.” Lindsey Graham, bless his little heart, called for a federal investigation.

Hopkins, of course, recanted his story shortly after. When pressed by federal agents, Hopkins “revised his initial claims, eventually stating that he had not heard a conversation about ballots at all—rather he saw the Postmaster and Supervisor having a discussion and assumed it was about fraudulent ballot backdating,” the Inspector General report found. After multiple rounds of investigations, the report concludes there is quite simply nothing to the allegations made by Hopkins, who has been suspended without pay since Nov. 10. Hopkins’ small lie in service of the big one, however, has been big business for the suspended postal worker. “Hopkins has raised more than $236,000 on GiveSendGo, a Christian online fundraising platform, in a campaign that falsely describes the nature of his claim,” the Washington Post notes. He was also trotted out onstage at the Conservative Political Action Conference by Project Veritas founder James O’Keefe. Seems like everyone involved in the voter fraud fraud is doing just fine.

The federal government should sue this piece of shit for the costs of the investigation, and then fire him for lying to investigators.

Check into which crimes he can be indicted for also.

It's no wonder they're so desperate to "prove" voter fraud. Without proof of voter fraud, their voter suppression tactics keep failing in the courts. The judges often see right through their ham handed attempts at suppressing votes by asking them to provide evidence of widespread voter fraud - and it has simply never existed.

Why did it take four months to find this out?

btw, be careful what you ask for, Rogue Valley. If we start investigating people who make claims that turn out to be nonsense, people like Pelosi, Schiff, the entire DOJ/FBI leadership and a slew of anonymous sources, etc., might find your suggested retaliation directed at them.

Oh, lol, is this that Hopkins dipshit who "revised" his account form having overheard explicit discussions of how to go about backdating ballots....

....to having seen two people chatting, not having heard a single word of it, and just sort of thinking they must be be talking about backdating ballots?

The quisling who ran with Project Veritas Mendacium? Why yes, yes it is. And this is supposed to be an example of the "proof" that the Courts "refused to look at".

Fun fact: the courts actually didn't need to look at any proof because they were ruling on motions to dismiss, and when that happens the court assumes every single factual assertion the plaintiff made is true. And, to remind you all, Trump's own lawyers repeatedly told courts that they had no evidence of voter fraud and were not alleging voter fraud.

It's amazing how many people this farce duped, if "duped" is the right word. The truth of the matter is far more mendacious. Everyone screaming about voter fraud knows he or she is lying. Every single one. They don't care. Power for power's sake. "Pwn the libtards" by all means fair or foul. That's what this was all about.

America, despair.

I don't ask anything of you Mycroft. I just wish you would confine yourself to the Conspiracy Forum.
I didn't say you asked anything of me...but you certainly suggested something be done. Do you want that done to others, as well?

Or...are you two-faced about it?

You left off some others like Trump, Trump Jr., Powell, RudyG. etc.

Wow, what a sad response.

You have been asserting for months now that the election was fraudulent, yet every time someone asks you for proof, you don't provide it...

Exactly. He's claimed it was a giant conspiracy many times and when I've asked him who was behind it...he's retreated.
