Fear or Love?

That sounds sycophantic. But piss him off and he gets smite happy. You said proper fear (whatever that is) can be protective. If it's fear of upsetting your deity, never-ending punishment, then it's a constant state of fear, which is not healthy.

But you can’t know the final result until you die. You can’t connect how your life is now to any of the rules you follow. Did celebrating birthdays cause your problems in life?

Right, but the fact that other religions have “personal experiences” that are mutually exclusive to your own should call into question the accuracy of personal experience as a measure of truth.

Regardless, it is still the best way to live...I am not restrained/bogged down by traditions of men...true freedom...I give from the heart, not because some date on a calendar says I have to...

The punishments God laid on the shoulders of man always came after man, knowing God, turned away from him. Many turned back to God out of fear of punishment but inevitably all of those turned away again. That is because fear of punishment only lasts as long as the punishment does. Those that loved God and did not turn away, though they often suffered the punishment levied on their fellow man, are the ones we turn to for lessons of wisdom, and rightly so. Fear of God carries us through the moment while Love of God carries us through eternity.

So if your God chooses to give you "death" as opposed to "eternal paradise on earth" ---is God "punishing" you by denying you that "eternal paradise on earth" you often speak of?

But if your God deems you worthy of being "resurrected" to live for eternity on a blissful, totally peaceful new earth, as opposed to leaving you to rot in the grave for eternity --- you don't consider that to be a "punishment" from Jehovah?

Why is life as a slave worth living? Spending eternity stroking the ego of a dictator doesn’t sound pleasant.

Nope...for all means and purposes, I shouldn't even be here...by the grace of God, He allowed Adam and Eve to bear children, before their own deaths...I am grateful for that...
