FBI Probe of Kavanaugh Is Expected to Wrap Up Very Soon

Nice trolling. If there were anything incriminating, you can be sure Booker, Harris, Mazie or Feinstein would have mentioned it. But Flake who called for it in the first place gave Kav the thumbs up.

Everyone thinks the Senator from Arizona was "flaky" on this. I don't think so. I think he did it to save the confirmation. I don't think Collins or Manchin would have supported cloture without that last FBI report. I think the cloture vote would have failed and we'd still be talking about Kavanaugh after the midterms.

Voting no would have been the easier choice for Flake. He's not up for re-election and it'd appease the lunatics threatening him. He voted yes because his conscience compelled him to do so.

So you have not read it and have no first hand knowledge of exactly what it says. Got it.

I misread what you were talking about. Yes, I admit Murkowski was disappointing, but doesn't matter. Joe Manchin was a yes. It cleared 51-49. He'll be confirmed tomorrow, regardless.

O.K. then. Was it that hard?

It's not going to be made public, you know that. Feinstein doesn't want it to be made public.

I did not realize Feinstein was Chair and controlled the Committee as well as the Senate.

You're wrong. The senators are not allowed to leak out what is in the FBI investigation. It might as well be classified. That is unless you have some inside information?

You're contradicting yourself here. And furthermore it's McConnell that has decreed none of it will be made public. Not Feinstein.

Feinstein: “It would seem to me that if people are going to be identified this ought to be held very close and not made public."

"I think the investigation ought to be closely held," she reiterated.

They can talk about it in general terms, just not publish detailed info.

Do you think it is right and proper to confuse people with factual details that prove them wrong?

It's not a contradiction though. Feinstein doesn't want it public. They all have talked about the report in generalities. Both are true.

As to the report:

We know it was 9 people interviewed. We know that it was about 1000 pages long. We know they interviewed Judge for 3 hours. We know that neither Kav nor Ford were interviewed but they were allowed to submit supplemental evidence and testimony. We know that she refused to give them her therapist's notes.

It is not now and never was Feinstein who was keeping this report secret.

Th decision to keep it secret was NOT up to Feinstein. To blame her for it is tremendously dishonest. You should stop it now.
I never blamed her, I simply pointed out that even your own senators are against it being made public.

Lindsey Graham is FOR it being made public. Why do you think that might be?

The last report I read said that Graham had not even read the report so I have no idea why he takes the positions he does - on a whole slew of things.

Democratic Senate Leader Schumer has asked for it to be made public and was highly critical of how this whole thing rolled out.

He wants a "public version," a subtle, but important difference. I'm certain his version would omit evidence that lends claim to the belief that Ford likely falsified her story.

But no one who has read this thing has said much beyond what I posted earlier.

Where are you getting this from? Start with Feinstein saying to keep it private.

It's a safe assumption. Regardless, it doesn't matter if you believe it or not. By all accounts that matter in the vote, the report exonerated Kavanaugh and he will be confirmed tomorrow barring a change of votes from the procedural.

Unless you can back up your previous claim about Feinstein, you just flushed any credibility you had right down the proverbial crapper.

It only 45 pages that summarize the interviews of 9 people. There are an additional 1600 pages of tips that were called in and not followed up on.

But you’re right about Feinstein.

It's exactly what I said it is.

Did you not read the link? It has Feinstein's comments quite plainly.
