Favorite Cooking Shows On TV

Knife Fight is my favorite.
Alton Brown's Good Eat's was great too, but I think it's all re-runs now.

I like Chopped too, but not as much as the above mentioned.

I'll watch Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives from time to time, but only if there's nothing else on.

All time its IRON CHEF - the Japanese version on the Food Channel. I would pay a lot of money to eat a meal prepared by Hiroyuki Sakai.

Now its FOOD PARADISE on the Travel Channel on the weekends. I also like Diners, Drive Ins from time to time like Dragonfly mentioned. But stay away from a Guy Ferrari restaurant. Not good.
 
I think Giada DeLaurentiis cooks, right? I always get too distracted to know for sure.
 
The only cooking show I really watch is Cutthroat Kitchen when new episodes are put on Netflix.

Not exactly a cooking show, but anything with Anthony Bourdain in it will always get my interest- I totally loved No Reservations and I binge watch Parts Unknown once each season finishes.
 
I like Barefoot Contessa, Throwdown with Bobby Flay, Pioneer Woman and Trisha's Southern Kitchen.
 
I watch several but they get old fairly quickly. Chef's Life and the British Bakeoff were my two most recent binges, but am over them for now.
 

I like Chopped, MasterChef, MasterChef Canada, MasterChef Junior, Hell's Kitchen, Beat Bobby Flay, Iron Chef. I'm quite a fan, as you can see.
 
I like Heston Blumenthal's shows.

I love that show. I usually try the various places when I am in a town that has a featured diner. He is usually spot on.
 
I like all the Andrew Zimmerman shows and recently have gotten into watching Man vs child chef showdown with my daughter. Those kids can cook! I do like Rachel Ray but don't watch it that much.

My problem with food shows is how they make everything look delicious and make me hungry. :lol:
 

Alton Browns IMHO was the best cooking show ever made. I haven't really seen anything that comes close to teaching you the how's and whys and science of cooking as well as the preparation.

Oh yeah how could I forget Hells kitchen and kitchen nightmares too. Chef Ramsey is a kick.:lol:

I am not currently watching any of the shows, got bored a few years ago, the last one that I did watch was Sweet Genius, which was good enough to hold my interest for awhile. The wife still watches them, so I sort of see them..... of the current class that I have seen if I were to watch one it would be either Master Chef or Chopped. My wife loves Hell's Kitchen, which drives me up a wall.

Not a cooking show exactly but I do still watch Anthony Bourdain occasionally, him I still like.

For me it needs to be some mix of I will learn something and it is fun, and strange can be fun (see Two Fat Ladies for example). Where is the fun with these modern shows? Doesn't anyone care about having fun anymore? Most everyone is so technical and serious and slaves to the fads.

Depressing it is.

When we are on the road we will go to places we have seen on his show - DINERS ETC... and they are universally good and very fairly priced. Its always a safe bet for a good meal at a fair price and lots of it. In New York City we hit his own restaurant near Broadway and were shocked at how utterly mediocre it was and very overpriced. The food was the quality and scope of an Applebees or Ruby Tuesday or Chili's and the cost was twice as much. A mixed drink was $12.

Now it was a block from the theater district so you expect to pay more - but it was simply not too good. A fellow and his date sitting next to us in the usual NYC closed quarters said the only people who go there are tourists and theater goers (which they also were) and both are enough to keep him in business despite universally bad reviews in the NY press.

Good Eats was my favorite. I love Alton Brown. I'm not too much on the Realty-TV cooking shows, except for where Gordon Ramsay is concerned. I don't know why, typically I cannot stand Realty TV, but I love Gordon Ramsay. Actually, I really think F-Word was one of his best shows.

I'll also pretty much watch anything with Anthony Bourdain in it.
