Has anyone noticed that the new conservative buzzword is fascism now that socialism is losing its punch (due to the fact that Russia fell in the 80s)?

Sadly, many of them don't understand the meaning of either word.

As usual with the Trump party... projection

Let's see now:

Which party has as it's supporters people who walk around with Nazi flags?

Curious, ain't it, that THOSE people would call someone else Fascist

But but but that 'S'. The one in 'NSDAP'. That 'S' means Hitler was far-left so fascism and socialism means the same thing now!
Never mind what the Nazi's actually did. That 'S'...

Its like claiming North Korea is democratic because DPRK.

The reality is that evil regimes tend to lie with their marketing materials.

Well if that fails too there is always “pedophilia”!

Fascism is a subset of socialism. Further, conservatives could use "fascism" every second of the day for 10 years straight and not catch up to the left in its overuse. The truly said thing is the idea that "Socialist" isn't as taboo as it once was.

Of what? Facts?
Nope, of not understanding what the words socialism and fascism mean.

Socialism - a political and economic theory of social organization which advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole.

Fascism - a political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition

You will notice that they have definitions that have nothing to do with each other. One is an economic theory and the other is about racial or group superiority.

Which party is silencing, canceling those who don't agree with them. Which party is supporting over 200,000 illegal border crossing a month? Which party's supporters spent the past several years, burning, looting, assaulting civilians who disagree with them, assaulting police and even trying to set them on fire, attacking police stations and government buildings? Taking over physical control of parts of major Blue cities! Which party is supporting all this? Which party doesn't seem to care about the inner city black youth who are dying at a rate far greater than Covid among children? Which party supports ANTIFA and BLM who are two of the main perpetrators in these actions?

Yeah, and Hitler and his cronies hijacked the party to get a presence in the Reichstag then purged it of the original socialists on the Night of the Long Knives.

Hey man, we've had some good faith discussions previously. You know I'll hear you out. But how exactly is Facism as subset of socialism?
Further, conservatives could use "fascism" every second of the day for 10 years straight and not catch up to the left in its overuse.
As much as facism is overused, it doesn't mean the word has no meaning.
The truly sad thing is the idea that "Socialist" isn't as taboo as it once was.
Well, that's partly due to people like me. Maybe I can even sell you on it ;)

Ah...if only you were a bit more educated, as fascism actually IS and economic model, your own words demonstrate this. This isn't a debate or a difference of opinion. Fascism is a spin off of socialism. That's factual history. Mussolini was a socialist but he thought there were flaws in it, so he modified his previous ideology into a new one. Without socialism, there is no fascism.

Both socialism and fascism has the state controlling what businesses do. Whereas socialism has direct ownership, fascism simply regiments and dictates private businesses that the end result is the same.

Those who are less educated only look at the nationalist part of fascism. Those of better education look at it's entirety.

Another one of rightwing lies that they created to move from their former incorrect Democrat Party - to - Socialist association to the new Dem Party - to - Nazi association.

I won't bother explaining. @tacomancer did a great job above already.
No need for you to inaccurately explain anything to me. I'm aware of the flaws in your POVs.

Ask them about East Germany being a democratic republic?

It's only noon and that is the dumbest ***** ***** ****** thing that I will read today.

Correct. It still has a meaning but that does not equal to it having valid meaning in public discourse.

I'll never be sold on centralized planning. Freedom and freer markets are not without its faults, but the corruptibility of humans, and their egos, think that they can give government powers to control things to the point where everything is fixed and that it won't open the door for totalitarianism is naïve beyond measure, imo.

Good luck.

They let their media masters define words for them.

It would probably shock many Republicans to know they are liberals also.

The media has twisted definitions to suit their "dems bad" marketing strategy....and it works.
