• The Press: called fake news or the enemy of the people when it challenges Trump or his movement.
• Rule of law: when applied to Trump or allies the rule of law is delegitimized as "weaponization" of government.
• Free speech
• Checks and balances
• Peaceful transfer of power: anyone remember Jan 6th?
• Independent judiciary: the moment any judge rules against Trump's agenda they are immediately attacked and threatened with impeachment.
• Feminism: an historical Western achievement, but MAGA sees feminism as anti-family or anti-male.
• LGBTQ+ rights: another historical Western achievement, but is always framed as cultural degradation.
• Multiculturalism: attacked as a threat to white Christian American identity.
• Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI): always framed as reverse racism.
• International cooperation (UN, NATO, WHO): now dismissed as surrendering sovereignty.
• Global human rights legal frameworks: now seen as anti-American/surrendering sovereignty.

To a great degree Western civilization is now associated with modernity. We see these traits appearing in other advanced economies and modern societies that were not normally associated with the "West."

Western civilization means modernity.

MAGA means ignorance, uneducated, backwardness, hatred, racism, belligerence, disagreeableness, intolerance, division, inward-looking, fascism, religious fanaticism, and bigotry. MAGA is all the parts of American society we are trying to leave behind, in the past, where it belongs.

The Democrats have been foolish to allow ANY American flag to be alienated from them. If you run a political party, in America, and a flag has ever been flown over the U.S., you should be willing to fly it. And you should make a point to fly it if the other side tries to make it their private property. If the Republicans want an old historic flag to make a symbol of their own, they're welcome to the Stars and Bars.

So what if it says Heaven on there! Do the Democrats want the other place? Deists, Unitarians, all sorts of folks believe in Heaven, and the Democratic Party could also. Do they need to put down religious folks with a line of official atheism? They could sure use to have some more people praying for them the way the elections have gone lately.

I'd bet money there's universal health care in Heaven ... for anybody who needs it. (Sorry, no payouts unless you can prove there isn't)

A few dozen people out of the millions of Democrats in that city get together and burn an upside down American flag with an anarchy symbol on it. Therefore, .............. ???

Western civilization means modernity.

When Mexico drove France out - they were never able to take California. Pio Pico sought unification with Mexico, but could not get past Freemont and the American forces. California remained a Republic until it joined the Union.
