Fact check: Trump makes more false claims about Canada in advance of meeting with prime minister (1 Viewer)

Meeting over. Lunch time 🍔

I’m starting to wonder about Trump’s sanity. He’s all over the place in the Oval meeting with Carney.
Look for clips on Alcatraz and some other things he did last night. He's going downhill rapidly.

Sure, but you can at least make it look like something's getting done.
There's going to be a separate news conference by at least Carney's side later today. There will be vague references to respectful discussions and our wonderful relationship and now the hard work of negotiating starts.

So my overall take. Carney did well as was expected. He pushed back when he needed to without interruption by Trump.

He used humour to make points. He only looked slightly uncomfortable when the topic of 51st state came up.

Trump was very gracious toward Carney, and vice-versa.

It was a pretty good meeting considering how mercurial Donald can be.

Canada must not be part of the 200 deals.

We're probably going to hear about those massive deals with Vanuatu and the Heard and McDonald Islands.
:)

So if there's nothing Carney can say to get Trump to lift those tariffs, then I guess there's nothing to negotiate. To our dear Canadian neighbors, it really is time to move on to better pastures.

Best joke of the meeting.

Trump used his experience in real estate to push for the 51st state idea.

Carney replied that he'd spoken to "the owners of Canada" (Canadians) and that Canada was not for sale.

This competes.

Mark explains to Donald that Canada is not for sale, with tact and humour.

I REALLY want to see them try the shit they pulled on Zelensky on Carney.

My money says he beats their asses on live TV.
Trump mentioned that the relationship with Carney in the Oval Office wouldn't be like that "other guy", referring to Zelensky.

Being the narcissist that he is, everything Trump says or does is to set the stage. The man is absolutely devoid of empathy or sympathy unless it’s for himself. That Carney held his tongue and behaved like a consummate professional is admirable. That Trump behaves like a complete jerkoff and some Americans see nothing wrong with it speaks volumes of how much further we still have to go.

...and turns it around by mentioning what Trump previously said to make his point. Well played. It's the difference between a proper negotiator and a used car salesman.
:)
