Hmm wouldnt it be better to just lay off FAA office staff? I know that wouldnt have as big a political impact and maybe might show that the FAA works fine without them so I guess they cant do that!
CHICAGO (AP) — Under orders to trim hundreds of millions of dollars from its budget, the Federal Aviation Administration on Friday released a final list of 149 air traffic control towers that it will close at small airports around the country starting early next month.
The closures will not force any of those airports to shut down, but pilots will be left to coordinate takeoffs and landings among themselves over a shared radio frequency with no help from ground controllers. Those procedures are familiar to all pilots.
Airlines have yet to say whether they will continue offering service to airports that lose tower staff. The trade group Airlines for America said its member carriers have no plans to cancel or suspend flights as a result of the closures.
The agency is also still considering eliminating overnight shifts at 72 additional air traffic facilities, including some at major airports like Chicago's Midway International and General Mitchell Airport in Milwaukee. There was no word Friday on when that decision will come.....snip~
FAA to close 149 air traffic towers under cuts

Well around us they are Shutting down Gary Airport Tower and some of the Private Fields.....course once again blaming sequester cuts. Although if I was some of these millionaires and billionaires. I think they could build their own towers and hire their own people for Private fields. Which if it affects these types and business. Then they should also be able to turn around and make the Democrats and Obama pay the price.
Isn't stuff like this what conservatives and the Tea Party wanted anyways?
If we're going to have drastic cuts to the budget, don't be surprised when they're drastic.
I'm not blaming the Tea Party or conservatives or Republicans for this stuff. In fact, I'm wondering why they aren't taking credit for these measures to cut government spending, which their rhetoric has always supported.
Who do you think those you mentioned would cut first. Air traffic Controllers or Pencil pushing shirts that sit in offices? What about sales and advertising? Middle management?
I'm pretty sure that pencil pushers that sit in offices are going to get laid off due to sequestration as well.
Isn't the FAA notorious for having several VPs?
This is what happens after a period of 35 years when you deregulate the airline industry, which I believe the process began in 1978. Politicians now know the answer to what happens, although it's a question I don't think they ever cared knowing the answer to, along with all the other changes that have happened to the airline industry during that time. I would like to point out that Obama wasn't a politician when all this crap started, so it isn't his fault.
Yeah, I definitely could see them getting rid of some pencil pushers and Middle management, myself. Course yesterday Obama thrw up another 200 Million to Jordan to help take care of Syrian Refugees. Why are we paying for Syrian Refugees in Jordan? I think that 200 million could have helped keep some of the Towers open. Especially the One in Ogden Utah situated around Military Flights.
But that's Okay.....Obama can keep on taking the hit. Each and everytime he throws money overseas. People are hurting here and even they won't go for the lies much longer while watching Team Obama give money to other Countries.
Actually it was Congress that gave the money to the Syrain Refugees. Congress controls the spending.

Why would you think that? The white house public tours were cancelled yet the visitor office director is now paid (and very well, thank you) to do absolutely nothing (except to advise Obama, of course).

Yep. Ignoring those pesky "pay as you go rules" by declaring everything to be a crisis or emergency.
Which is one example that may not be representative of the whole.
And just because there are no White House tours open to the public does not mean that there are no visitors to the White House.

Oh and I'm sure this is just coincidence...

This totally cracks me up. We are watching how much money we're spending, right? How important it is to use 200 million dollars over here instead sending it to foreign countries, am I correct?Yeah

Correlation/causation.
The towers being closed are in smaller communities with less traffic. More rural communities. Which tend to lean Republican.
