Trump is sanctioning countries that don't buy American stuff to the same value that America buys their stuff. That's not a tariff. Trump was fighting unfair business practices in 2016. Now, I 2024, he's fighting the unfair trade practices he accepted in '16. In 2028, he will be fighting the unfair practices he accepted in '24.

This is an excellent point that most people do not consider..... if all of the competitive products are offered at a higher price point, then US domestic products will also increase in price (probably not as much), because they can.... the market value is set higher, so the demand curve shifts accordingly.

It's really simpler than that. By default, our environment will improve. Every human being enjoying the privileges of our global economy has an enormous and very damaging footprint. We don't need MORE junk, we need better made necessities that last for decades. That stuff used to be made in the US and should be again. That requires the consumer pony up more money. Guess we'll just have to forego all the junk to afford something of quality. Nothing wrong with that. Nothing wrong with refurbished wood furniture instead of glued together cardboard that winds up proliferating in landfills if it gets wet.
