Explosions In Norway

New updates via Al Jazerra and Scandinavian news media.

The shooter was seen near the bombing site. The attack on the island happened 2 hours after the bombing and it takes a hour or so from Oslo to the island by car and boat. Reports are coming that this is looking more like a lone nutjob than a islamic terrorist attack. Only "odd" thing is the size and sophistication of the bomb itself but we shall see when the police start releasing facts rather than titbits and leaking information.

There have been many as you call them western looking islamic extremist. Jihad Jamie (white chick) John Walker Lindh (white dude) there have been many other converts to the religion of peace who have become radicalized.
 
Just confirmed by the Norwegian Justice minister that the suspect is Norwegian.

No there have been very few. Just because you can name two does not mean they are all over the place. The chance that a white bomber is a Islamic extremist is still very small compared to the person being a wackjob or a left/right wing radical.

Nope and no information about his religion. The minister said he did not want to say more and leave that to the investigating police to come out with more information. And dont get your hopes up about information about his religion, not the tradition in Scandinavia to mention that at all.

Well then you are not well informed. Swedish and Danish intelligence services have foiled quite a number of attacks over the last 30+ years and sadly a few attacks were carried out including the assassination of a Swedish Prime Minister. There was a bomb attack in Copenhagen in the 1980s, and of course the attack on the Mohammed cartoon guy only last year or so. But far from all were related to Islamic terror, although a large part were. Neo nazi, right wing extremists, left wing eco nuts and so on have also tried over the years.

I'm quite certain though that if his motivation was religious they would eventually mention it.
 
What a horrible happening. My sympathies to the Norwegian people.
I will withhold further comments until more facts are known.

IMO, just about everyone that can wake up, is awake. Sadly, for the rest of them, the only way they would ever wake up, is if jihadists killed Obama, or one of his disciples. The Obamabots ain't gonna cot to somebody ****ing with the Messiah.

But most terror is not religious based, but political. Hence chances of them mentioning it is low, unless some journalist asks.

I would bet the people responsible for the 911 attacks think like that too...........

They wish that kind of stuff would take place all around the globe too, so how does it feel to be near and dear to them?
 
Well, one thing for sure, it was done by someone or a group that wanted to reek havoc and kill a lot of people. My guess is that he or it was hoping for many more deaths than have been discovered so far.
 
There wont be any more official information coming out before tomorrow since the police spokesman "just" said that this was the last press conference for tonight. Guess we will find out more tomorrow.
