(Reuters) -As U.S. industries push for their workers to receive early access to COVID-19 vaccines, local health departments and pharmacies face the challenge of verifying the identity of essential workers to ensure no one cuts the line.

The vaccination campaign under way is now focused on hospital staff and nursing homes, tightly controlled environments where verification is relatively simple. But beginning in January or February, Americans employed in a range of industries will be eligible for inoculation, provided they are essential frontline workers.

The absence of a plan to verify vaccine candidates’ jobs and confusion over who qualifies as essential raise the risks of fraud and disorganization.

They've built a paradise for scammers.

We need to make sure getting the vaccine to prisoners and corrections facilities is a high priority. Those people are sitting ducks and need help ASAP.

There is a fight going on behind the scenes of adding race as a qualification and if they can get away with it politically. But all kind of new categories are popping - up: prisoners, grocery workers, domestic workers, agricultural workers, teachers, Uber type drivers, because they are lkely to be non white democrats.

But in a year or so they will have so much vaccine, they will be dumping it the sewer like they are with the glut of hand sanitizer. LOL!

Everyone needs the vaccine. There are going to be a few line cutters; tough. As production ramps up, it will matter less and less who is the "most essential". 30 something AOC got it, despite being young and healthy; sometimes it's not clear cut, and best to just shoot up every swaggering dick that feels essential that day and move on to the next person. We are all in this together.

Just IMO I'd like to see grocery store workers get it in one of the top categories. They are taking alot of risk and dont make much $ for it. I think alot of the big chains have stopped paying them bonuses now.

I’ve got a relative in grocery In Calif (union).
They get two week furloughs if they are in proximity of someone who tested positive - first on the company dime, second your sick leave or workman’s comp, next is workmans’s comp.
Son in law did at least three go arounds, then he caught it, and is fine now but no money for Christmas. (Calif Workmen’s comp is slow and unresponsive).

Maybe they will buy his plasma antibodies. He’s a big guy and has lots of them.
