Please, provide specific actual examples that really happened, and state whether you believe the perpetrators were left, right, or center. Links would be helpful, though not absolutely necessary... but know that if you don't provide a link someone (not necessarily me) will be along to challenge you for it.

What are examples of political correctness from the right. I can only think of examples from the left.

I posted 11 examples of right-wing political correctness in the other PC thread.
Foetus = unborn child. Marriage has to mean a man and a woman. Observant Muslim has to be referred to as a Fundy Muzzie. Every year there's a War on Christmas. Don't say Happy Holiday. Palestinians don't exist. Creeping socialism. French fries become Liberty Fries. Welfare Queens and the demonisation of the poor - scroungers. Pro-life, when they really mean anti-abortion. The Dixie Chicks saga.

I think you've posted topics which are derisive but I don't think issues like the war on Christmas have anything to do with political correctness. Political correctness if being punished for saying things like retarded when the politically correct term is mentally handicapped.

Actually, "handicapped" is now frowned upon.

Example: I work in civil engineering. We design parking lots (as just one of many things). Twenty years ago we had "handicapped parking spaces". Ten years ago we had "handicapped accessible parking spaces". Fast forward to today, and we have "accessible parking spaces". We can't put the word "handicap(ped)" anywhere on our plans.

I always thought "handicapped parking space" sounded weird. The parking space is fine.

Illegal immigrant being labeled a "undocumented American"
An AR15 being labeled as a "Assault weapon"
Being for reducing and capping immigration being some how "anti immigrant".
 
In the song "Juicy" by Notorious BIG, before 9/11 the radio never censored out the line "time to get paid, blow up like the World Trade" (which was referring to the '94 bombing of the World Trade Center, which killed six people). After 9/11 (and years after Biggie's death) "blow up like the World Trade" was edited out "out of respect" for the 9/11 victims and as an example that terrorism won't be tolerated - because that, they think, is the politically correct thing to do...

But the song was never about 9/11
It was never about terrorism
Biggie was neither celebrating nor advocating the bombing.
Now they won't run the 'risk' of people 'hearing the line and getting confused.'

'Happy holidays' could conceivably and not unreasonably be viewed as a marginalisation of the widespread Christian culture. Using terms like foetus (I've even seen "lump of tissue" used at times) in connection with abortion could be offensive to mothers or pregnant women.

Rhetoric and attempts to steer political thinking/discussion by controlling language aren't necessarily the same thing as PC: Even most right-wing folk probably would not say that it's PC to call campaign finance 'bribery' for example.

Aha! now we get a definition. Not one I'd necessarily agree with, but a definition none the less. So, which of my examples doesn't apply to that, albeit limited, definition.

  • Foetus = unborn child. I don't think I need to justify that. It's obvious.
  • Marriage = man + woman. Just so we don't offend people who dislike homosexuals.
  • Fundy Muzzie. So that people who hate Moslems don't have to think of them as just normal people with a religion.
  • Creeping socialism. It's what we have to say so that conservatives aren't offended by progressive policies.
  • French Fries = Liberty Fries. So that we can tell the French how much they have offended us by not participating in our Iraqi invasion, or the War of ISIS Liberation, as I think it's now known.
  • Welfare Queens. So that poor people ARE offended, but they're poor right? Eff 'em.
  • Palestinians don't exist. So that militant Israelis and Zionists aren't offended.
  • War on Christmas. Don't say Happy Holidays. So that Christians don't feel their religion is undermined.
  • Pro-life instead of anti-abortion. So that no one is offended when we kill doctors, and mentally ill prisoners.
  • Dixie Chicks saga. So that George W. Bush isn't offended.


I think I nailed 'em!
