Cuba may be no exception. It recently announced plans to dump hundreds of thousands of government workers into a suddenly *authorized private sector. That doesn’t mean democracy is right around the corner. Though the brothers Castro, Fidel and Raúl, may soon be passé, some Cuba-watchers expect their successor may be a tough, but as yet unidentified, general from the powerful military who will use the Communist Party structure to maintain authoritarian rule.

So while some international critics, like the delusional Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, continue to rant against capitalism and America, aging communist regimes seek the fruits of capitalism’s prospering systems while retaining power with communism’s political infrastructure. It is an intriguing period in history.
Its been long overdue to end the embargo and get rid of one of the few remaining relics of the Cold War. Time to let our businesses get a crack at this new emerging market.

All Castro said was that the (I'm paraphrasing) "The cuban model wasn't working." He said nothing of capitalism or anything like that. Thats a very biased source. Socialism is such a huge boogey man for some reason and yet, people still admire a system which, by its very nature, exploits and degrades most of the worlds population while enhancing the wealth of the very few.

What exactly constitutes capitalism is disputable really and people have different ideas about exactly what it means. I think Cuba is more likely to position itself towards a middle path.

At any rate this is indeed one of many developments clearly demonstrating why we need to lift the embargo in its entirety. Fidel kicked out our puppet a long time ago and it is about time we got over that.
