EU to win 2012 Nobel Peace Prize, says Norway public radio

Re: E.U. Wins Nobel Peace Prize.....

They are the "world champions"... not much "world" when it comes to the sport of American football.

Lighten up! I'm pretty sure the New York Giants were the best American Football team in the world last year. Unless the Pakistanis are fielding a team I don't know about...

It's a joke because they use the prize to make political statements. Obama (an American) did NOT deserve the prize. So much for your theory that it's all about Americans winning.

Honestly, I thought it was funny. They can have the prize, it means nothing.

I was born and spent half my life in Sweden. I was a kid when we voted to join the EU, and I remember the discussions very well and all the promises that were made.

You and I both know that the EU is NOT popular in Europe. It has not been what people hoped for. That is why they never bring it up for a referendum - they know they would lose. So yes, it is a joke to give a flimsy prize to the EU when over half of Europeans would vote it down if they could.

Re: E.U. Wins Nobel Peace Prize.....

Are Norwegians Europeans?

You keep on intentional ignorance. Your thread title was wrong. Admit it and get over it for Jesus Christ

Re: E.U. Wins Nobel Peace Prize.....

Are Norwegians Europeans?

Yes, but the the political class there is anti-EU.

EU =/= Europe or Europeans. EU = European Union.

In other words, the commity there has independently decided to give the nobel peace prize yet again to unwarranted individuals like it has always done. It is a joke, that is true. But it is not a display of arrogance or anything of the sort.

Re: E.U. Wins Nobel Peace Prize.....

If Obama got one, why shouldn't the EU. Come on commity in charge of awarding the Nobel Peace prize. Piss all over the award a few more times until it replaces the golden globe as the laughing stock of the world in awards.

Re: E.U. Wins Nobel Peace Prize.....

Norway is not part of the EU.

Also, Obama got the Nobel Peace prize a few years ago and has done nothing to deserve it. Cut it out.

Norway is in Europe.

Notice how I said "the Europeans decided to give themselves a prize" and not "The EU decided to give themselves a prize."

Words.

BTW, I agree Obama didn't deserve the Nobel Prize. I'm not sure what that has to do with the humor I'm finding in the present situation?

Re: E.U. Wins Nobel Peace Prize.....

The first comment on the OP is:

"I can't believe these dip-sticks gave themselves the award. What a bunch of Morons!"

Gave themselves an award. It is clear that the OP is horribly ignorant of all things included in this story: The nobel peace prize and its constituents, Norway and the EU. You shouldn't take his side.

I said before. This decision was made independently because Norway doesn't like the EU very much. It has repeatedly refused to join the EU. So there was no political pressure. That being said, I do not approve of the decision. I wouldn't give the EU leaders the prize to wash the floors on my apartment. I do however do not see it as an act of arrogance... or dipsticks sticking together. I see it as just another way of pissing all over an award which is given for ****ty reasons to ****ty individuals. A stain among the otherwise very good and professional Nobel awards.

Again how was this fair.....shouldnt they have Considered the Polynesian Islands. At least for Peace and Prosperity. Not to mention Some good weather.

Re: E.U. Wins Nobel Peace Prize.....

The EU has no control over the Nobel prize juries. The peace prize is decided by the Norwegian Nobel committee. You are probably unaware that Norway is not a part of the EU.

The fact of 55 years of peace between the nations of the EU is an achievement unimaginable just 70 years ago. I think that's an accomplishment worth recognising.

Personally, I think Easter Island got shafted.

But listening to the news these days, it seems like Europe could use the money.

Re: E.U. Wins Nobel Peace Prize.....

Why this is an outrage.....:2mad: When will Smokey the Bear get his Nomination? "What" isn't he considered a global Citizen too?

Re: E.U. Wins Nobel Peace Prize.....

Re: E.U. Wins Nobel Peace Prize.....

So you attribute the 55 years of peace to the EU?

Re: E.U. Wins Nobel Peace Prize.....

So you attribute the 55 years of peace to the EU?

Yes. I attribute 55 years of peace between European nations as being the biggest and most important achievement of the EU.

Re: E.U. Wins Nobel Peace Prize.....

I was aware and mispoke......but not on the issue of Europeans giving other Europeans an Award. Also they included their economics. Which Can hardly be said they controlled.

Still this does not consider other parts of the planet and their geographical locations either.....now does it?

But you are welcome to defend it in the regards of how such is so deserving.

Re: E.U. Wins Nobel Peace Prize.....

lol why are you all getting angry at the EU for this? They did not ask for the award! Are you the same people who cry everytime TIME announces the Man of the Year?
