I know that this is a very complex topic.

But for now I want to break it down to this simple question:
EU - is the European Union a good thing or a bad thing in your opinion?

For me it is a good thing.

And the importance for me is not whether one might gain or lose a few cent this way or that way.

The main thing is: Peace in Europe!

Absolutely! People don't realize it, but Europe used to be as unstable as the Middle East is now. WWII finally forced them to look for a better way and they went with shared prosperity and interdependence as opposed to rivalry. Good choice!

I agree. Some people was against it when Finland was joining, but now who's opposing EU are really small minority (smaller than what it was back then).

Exactly! Definitely a better choice than a repetition of wars!

Yes, there will always be some who oppose the idea.
But I hope that the majority will see the EU as a good thing!

If you are a German it is a very good and profitable thing. For the rest of Europe and America not so much.

The US has a symbiotic relationship with the EU, we both need each other. Europe is a large market for US exports and the EU facilitates the flow of capital to many US businesses. Europe and U.S. together constitute a strong military force and are the peacekeepers in our contemporary world. They cover each others backs and are committed to remaining peaceful allies. The EU has common enemies, usually Russia, sometimes China and of course terrorism. The EU also has common goals -world leadership.

Reducing barriers for communications, travel and commerce are absolutely good things. They definitely have areas where improvement are needed and chances are the Brexit will re-enforce the changes required to keep the EU getting stronger.

EU is good for America cause it combines all those little countries into one big one. That way we don't have negotiate 23 different trade treaties.

I am not talking of profits.
I am talking of peace in Europe.

Due to NATO there can be no war in Europe. Germany has been defanged.

WTO solved that problem for many countries,

It started out a good thing. Now, not so much.

In my opinion, the EU is a good thing if for no other reason than the fact that Europe has not had another "civil war" (as some historians describe World Wars I and II) since 1945.

Just imagine, the young people of Europe have not had to suffer the literal hell of war, either as soldiers or as suffering civilians. More than 70 years of PEACE!

It could be. But it would take a serious introduction of accountability and putting in place of anti-conflict-of-interest mechanisms.
A European Federal state need not be a bad thing, but it depends entirely on how it is run. At the moment the EU reminds me entirely too much of the Catholic Church at the dawn of the 16th century. Corrupt, inept, and heading for a serious schism.

And the EU is and was one of the best things that ever happened to Europe.
Just what they need; a super-government layered over other top-heavy governments. As far as preventing war, U.S. bases and NATO are far more effectual than a bunch of envelope-stuffers in Brussels. Good thing Britain has had enough.

That reminds me of Voltaire's quip about the Holy Roman Empire; it was neither holy, nor Roman, nor an empire.

They didn't need to be to play it up for political purposes by taking the moral high ground on any given political passion of the moment, and proclaiming "we really are holier than thou on this".
