Episcopalians Vote to Allow Gay Marriage in Churches
SALT LAKE CITY — Episcopalians have voted to allow religious weddings for same-sex couples, just days after the U.S. Supreme Court legalized gay marriage nationwide.
The vote came Wednesday in Salt Lake City at the denomination's national assembly. The measure passed by an overwhelming margin in the House of Deputies, the voting body of clergy and lay people at the meeting. The day before, the House of Bishops had approved the resolution, 129-26 with five abstaining.
It looks like some Christians don't see a problem with approving of same sex marriage. I wonder how many will say this just 'proves' Episcopalians aren't 'real' Christians
Oh, you don't wonder at all; you hope they will. That's the real purpose of this OP.
And all it "proves" is that you know very little about the Episcopal Church and what's been going on since the late '80's and early '90's. Pro-tip: Google " Bishop Spong." This decision is no surprise at all.
Christians in name only. If you don't adhere to scripture, you're a fake. The Bible wasn't meant to be redefined or rewritten...only reread.
Several months ago I attended a family baptism at an Episcopal church. I've been occasionally attending services there for over 25 years. The rector, whoever it was, has always been a woman. The parish is very welcoming, and I love it, and it has always been exceedingly "gay-friendly." I can't imagine anybody being surprised by this decision--certainly not anybody who is aware of the schism in the Episcopal Church.
LOL, I'm pretty sure your church doctrine doesn't adhere to the letter of the scripture and I know you don't. Your church adheres to its interpretation of it, same as the Episcopal church.

I'm not surprised. MY Mil is a closet Liberal who was married to an extreme Conservative until his recent death. She's an Episcopalian who can give communion.

Anyone up for some bacon-wrapped shrimp? It's sacrilicious.
Oh, goody. Let's make this another divisive thread with personal comments. There aren't enough already.
show me the interpretation in the bible that says gay marriage is ok. I will be waiting for proof or evidence.

I have to question their religious faith at this point and the fact that they have abandoned God word to make men happy.
there will be a split in the church and people will leave and the church will drop in attendance.
Paul even wrote against this as well.
LOL! I don't have a church. For that very reason.
