Ending Corruption in Washington Will Take More Than Creating New Rules

The Jack Abromoff scandal is only a symptom of the larger problem, which is the spending habits of our legislators in Washington. Face it, our capital now operates for the benefit of money, not for We the People. We can write all the rules and pass all the laws we want, but that will not stop many of our Congressmen from taking bribes - as long as the incentive is there for them, they will take what comes merely as a risk of doing business.

The only way that we are going to stop bribery and corruption in Washington is to force our legislators to begin obeying the law, and boot them out if they do not listen. Every hear of Graham-Rudman?

Of course, this is going to be up to We the People to stay fully informed about what is being done in our names in Washington. If we dont have the will to do that, then institutional corruption will be our fourth branch of government, with no checks and balances on what it does. Time to wean big government off its rich monetary diet. Its the only cure for what ails the USA. When the trough dries up, the pigs will leave.

If the money and favors arent there in the first place, the CORPORATIONS (I did this in capital letters to denote artificial people) wont come. Its just like getting rid of roaches. If you take away their food supply, they go elsewhere.
