People weren't allowed to park RVs on their property in CO. They had to find other places to live, rent apartments, stay with friends/family, temporarily in emergency shelters, etc. My doctor lost his home and he just finished rebuilding - been staying in several places (him and his family) since. Not sure how much damage the buried utilities (water, sewer, gas, perhaps data and electric) but once the lots gets scraped they may be able to set RVs in place until they can rebuild. Used RVs will command a higher price. Of course all sorts of building and use codes will have to be waived for a bit.

Then there's the issue of clothing, toiletries, medicines, and all the stuff we tend to take for granted.
Not fun.
I know - thanks. We actually have family out there - some just a few blocks away from one of the evacuation warning zones, and some others farther south, out of the current threat zones. Are you worried for displaced Californians?
I would call the American Red Cross because I know they're manning the shelters, and then ask them how you can contribute.
I know a lot of people who are staying with family, though. Everybody crowding in because I mean...what else are you supposed to do?
The best thing to do is immediately reduce federal spending by 70% by shutting down departments, and giving all Californians a 70% federal tax cut. We are an economic powerhouse and if we could devote all the money we send to other states to instead focus on our own needs, we could not only easily rebuild but also make our infrastructure more fire resilient. For too long we’ve suffered through wildfires burning through federal land. It’s time to hand all this land back to our state and let us manage it responsibly. This was a fairly serious issue in Colorado for the Marshall fire - but with a little over 1,000 homes destroyed, the Marshall fire is at least a tenth the size of the disaster in Southern CA. Is L.A. equipped to handle the displaced??
Cool story.I just learned today that those who have lost everything in the California fires are expected to pay their property taxes pronto. Wow, unbelievable.

I sure hope you are correct. Not sure what “pronto” means in this context, but it appears that you have been misinformed.
The second installment of the current year property taxes in Los Angeles County is due April 10. The first installment was due December 10, 2024. If one has the funds, it’s common to pay both installments in December for deduction on that year’s Schedule A filed with the IRS 1040.
The following link to the Los Angeles County Assessor’s Office provides explanations and forms to apply for a reassessment of property value — decline-in-value due to natural disasters, etc.
Bullshit.I just learned today that those who have lost everything in the California fires are expected to pay their property taxes pronto. Wow, unbelievable.
High end Mississippi.Theres ALWAYS room for more homeless in LA. They already have a pretty good 'plan'.

If tents are good enough for the people in western North Carolina, they are good enough for Califorians too. This was a fairly serious issue in Colorado for the Marshall fire - but with a little over 1,000 homes destroyed, the Marshall fire is at least a tenth the size of the disaster in Southern CA. Considering that I’ve been paying property taxes in Los Angeles for decades, and helped with a decline-in-value application for property owned by a corporate entity, I’m certain the information is correct. Plus you can access the information via the link to the LA County Assessor’s Office. Do you think the county is lying?I sure hope you are correct.
Thoughts and prayers on your weird conspiracy theory being immediately disproven and not gaining any traction.I sure hope you are correct.
It wasn't a friggen conspiracy, it was something that was reported. I am very glad to learn it is not true. In fact I think these people deserve a break in all taxes which includes hidden taxes in a boatload of regulations in their efforts to rebuild. Single family homes should continue to be just that and not turned into high rises that some special interests are hoping for.Thoughts and prayers on your weird conspiracy theory being immediately disproven and not gaining any traction.
Better luck with the next lie that you hear on AM radio.
It was yet another wacky conspiracy theory that the media told you to spread, and like a good, compliant MAGA, you followed orders. Now you'll begin searching for some other wacky conspiracy with which to demonize California in order to experience pleasure. May I suggest that you lean on your inner Q and focus on those Jewish space lasers? This is a perfect time for you to stand by Marjorie and show her that you can villainize California to her satisfaction. It wasn't a friggen conspiracy, it was something that was reported. What the heck are you going to do Mr. California to insure these people who have lost everything get a friggin break in rebuilding their property. It was yet another wacky conspiracy theory that the media told you to spread, and like a good, compliant MAGA, you followed orders. Not too bad, but I think you'd best stick with the space lasers conspiracy theories. What the heck are you going to do Mr. California to insure these people who have lost everything get a friggin break in rebuilding their property.
What the heck are you going to do Mr. California to hold those in charge for their terrible incomitance from cutting the funding for the fire department to the number of fire trucks that were out of service because the county had no money to repair them. Or what are you going to do Mr. California about the lack of water available due to a reservoir shut down for month for repairs.
Yes Mr. California, please tell us all what you personally going to do to bring change!
Not too bad, but I think you'd best stick with the space lasers conspiracy theories.
That said, the part where you demanded to hold those in charge "for their terrible incomitance" was deeply impressive. I assume you were going for 'incontinence' but couldn't stick the landing? Speaking of which, why do you blame Donald for cutting funding to the fire department? Since you're so upset at the incontinence of those in charge, I can only imagine you're referring to Donald and his well-known... problems.
I already said what we should do. We need to shut down all these federal programs that California keeps paying for in order to keep red states afloat. We need to stop paying for special needs education in Oklahoma, hurricane disaster response in North Carolina and flooding in Louisiana. We have to stop paying for all those Ohio farmer subsidies. We need to shut down FEMA and the DOE and all these other departments that take money out of California and send it to crappy places like rural Ohio. Lives are being destroyed in our state and meanwhile we're funding the fat cat pork barrel pet projects in shitholes like Ohio. It's time for that to stop.Incompetence
I have no control over spell check. And what a pathetic response.
Again what are you Mr. California going to do to help those who have lost everything and what are you going to do to hold those responsible for their incompetence.
California is under full control by the left. They have the governor, the legislature and major cities are run by Democrats. You own this disaster. Deal with it.
Every friggin year the past few decades , California has had wild fires, earthquakes, mudslides and the Federal government sends funds. You will receive them once again but there may be some stipulations attached demanding changes in how you all do things.I already said what we should do. It's time for you @vesper to pull yourself up by your own bootstraps and take care of your own state for a change, and stop constantly begging California for handouts. Meanwhile, that money should come back to us Californians so we can take care of ourselves. We have one of the largest economies on the planet, we have some the greatest industrial capacity anywhere in the Americas. It's time for us to take back the trillions of dollars we've given to Mike Johnson and his cronies, and concentrate that wealth on our own state.
Your state can figure out how to survive on your own. We don't care.
Every friggin year the past few decades, Ohio has had to be bailed out by California and other blue states, again and again. You can't pay your teachers without us, you can't repair your roads and bridges unless we're bailing you out. Time for that to stop. In the future we may consider helping you again, but there may be some stipulations attached demanding changes in how Ohio does things.
