Is this a non-issue and is just media manipulation? Shouldn't women be more intelligent while pregnant?

It's an issue. Thank God we haven't reached the point where we can ignore killing pregnant women.

BUT they are dying in large numbers anyways!

It's much more than that. It's the American way you are going after. Stop being so liberal.

"Pregnant patients have “become radioactive to emergency departments” in states with extreme abortion restrictions, said Sara Rosenbaum, a George Washington University health law and policy professor.

“They are so scared of a pregnant patient, that the emergency medicine staff won’t even look. They just want these people gone," Rosenbaum said."

These injustices need to cost the doctors on duty their licensure and the hospitals their ability to accept Medicaid.

What a ****ed up asinine comment.

It is only going to get worse for women, and we have the Christian Taliban under Lord Cheeto's command to blame for it.

Well if it is as reported that “Sacred Heart” hospital is likely to be sued within an inch if it’s continued existence as it’s a violation of federal law (if federal monies are accepted by that hospital and I am sure they are) to turn a sick person away without at least stabilizing them and then finding them a facility that will treat them.

Certainly a bleeding woman presenting as pregnant and in labor is in crisis, not in a medically stabilized condition, and in need of immediate medical care. To refuse her would appear to open that hospital to serious liability.

Wow, this is getting truly stupid. {smh}

In the US in 2023, there were 1,026,690 abortions performed. Abortions have not declined since abortion law was turned over to the states....they have INCREASED.
In the US in 2022 (the last full year there is data for live births) there were "3,667,758 births were registered in the United States, essentially unchanged from 2021 (3,664,292)"
The article you cited shows potential EMTALA violations in "just over a dozen" cases involving pregnancy.

Each case will be investigated as EMTALA violations always are.

I sympathize with their desire to not go to prison. The real blame falls with the legislators who intentionally created vague laws to frighten doctors performing abortions. They seem to have no clue, or worse, no care, in the broad ramifications of their handiwork.

As do I, but turning those people away and exposing them to what they went through is unacceptable.

I agree that those legislators need to serve time in prison for what they've done.

Thank your local republican voter.
Riiiight - Republican voters are killing pregnant women now.

The rhetoric of hatred, intolerance, and bigotry is getting way out of hand.

The hatred, violence and bigotry is coming from the right. If you voted republican, these deaths are on you: Own it. I have zero sympathy for MAGA voters

They are damn sure trying to.

Thankfully, people are willing to take women/get women to other states where they can receive the medical care necessary to save their lives.

For pity's sake - first, this has literally NOTHING to do with how all Republicans vote - repeat - NOTHING to do with how ALL Republicans vote (hence my comment).

Second, the irony here is near absolute inasmuch as NOT ONE mother (pregnant woman) died in this story.

The only deaths that occurred, per the story, were several babies (born/unborn, whatever you choose to call "them" these days) because the facilities to which they went couldn't or wouldn't help them - which imho is utterly unimaginable if you ask me (someone who votes REPUBLICAN - so go figure).

I mean seriously - you two, who are adamant, virulent even, advocates for ABORTION - the killing of babies (lifeforms, fetuses, whatever) in the womb are here decrying something that doesn't even pertain to said babies (lifeforms, fetuses, whatever) in this story, blaming ALL REPUBLICANS for the supposed deaths of (how many???? not one) pregnant woman.

Good grief. Whatever the reasons for why these women were refused help - which, let me be absolutely clear here - was WRONG,

Frankly, as I read this story, it sounded to me like a bunch of deranged, utterly ignorant progressive healthcare providers were so afraid of violating some law with which they disagreed, the details of which their puny minds couldn't begin to grasp, let alone process, made some of the most evil progressive decisions imaginable to deny care to these people.

And you're blaming their ignorance, stupidity, and heartlessness on how ALL REPUBLICANS vote. I mean, holy cow....

It has everything to do with Republicans. From the article:

"Complaints that pregnant women were turned away from U.S. emergency rooms spiked in 2022 after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, federal documents obtained by The Associated Press reveal.

The cases raise alarms about the state of emergency pregnancy care in the U.S., especially in states that enacted strict abortion laws and sparked confusion around the treatment doctors can provide.

Pregnant patients have “become radioactive to emergency departments” in states with extreme abortion restrictions, said Sara Rosenbaum, a George Washington University health law and policy professor.

“They are so scared of a pregnant patient, that the emergency medicine staff won’t even look. They just want these people gone," Rosenbaum said."

“Wait wait no…that was not OUR FAULT. It’s those damn liberal doctors”

See you at the ballot box. With MILLIONS of other women and those who respect us

Sell the bullshit somewhere else. We aren’t buying it.

I think this is the most disgusting part of the post.

“But did she DIE?”

I have to sit and ask myself “what kind of hatred of women does it take to post something like that”

Puhleeze....

Perhaps you missed my condemnation of those PROGRESSIVE facilities and their heartless, ignorant decisions, for which you're blaming Republicans - which I highly doubt.

From my post: "The only deaths that occurred, per the story, were several babies (born/unborn, whatever you choose to call "them" these days) because the facilities to which they went couldn't or wouldn't help them - which imho is utterly unimaginable if you ask me (someone who votes REPUBLICAN - so go figure)."

So, cherry picking the parts you think meet your agenda to blame Republicans (for everything) is about as hateful as it gets. Therefore pardon me if I don't cave under your blatantly obvious intolerance and hatred, misguided as it is.

Frankly, I don't think you have the remotest appreciation for what the word "disgust" really means either, outside your own small, sheltered and progressive world - let alone the irony such pseudo repugnance as you feign conjures.
