Elon Musk's DOGE Begins IRS Audit

Why does DOGE need citizens private tax information?

What use could it be to them?

There needs to be a look at why certain heads of govt agencies have gotten so wealthy.
Maybe they just happened to make some excellent personal investment and financial decisions.
Or maybe they used their govt position to enrich themselves.

There’s no maybe. Both parties have done it for decades. The Supreme Court supports corruption because they are on the take themselves. When all the foxes own the hen house our options are limited for recourse. Doge is just it e newest flavor of government corruption.

Who are we talking about?

People come up to trump with tears in their eyes and thank him
I know this was written as irony but it's true. We have since nothing like this since the Beatles landed in NYC.

The difference this time is that instead of tween girls its 55 year old men crying in ecstasy.

DOGE is now auditing the IRS - turnabout is fairplay, is it not?

Audits use auditors to preform analysis and make recommendations. This is just a coup.

If anyone's tax refund is delayed, Musk is the likely one to blame.

There's no coup -- the guy's been named for the job by Trump.
Anything being done is happening with Trump's sanction.

Who are we talking about?
All govt personnel who have unusually high wealth that isn't consistent with their salary.
If they have lots of extra money, then where did it come from?
Did they misuse their govt position to enrich themselves?

Who are these personnel?

Specifically… who are they?

So you don't want to see these finances probed? How can you complain about corruption while arguing against investigating it?

Do you really think a guy who spent a quarter of a billion dollars helping Trump get elected isn't calling his own shots?
SNAP OUT OF IT

What on earth are you talking about?

What turnabout?
The IRS audits everyone -- now it's the turn of IRS to be audited.
They too have to pass scrutiny, like everyone else.

So you don’t even know if they exist.

Thats cool.
That's like saying "Why look for tax evaders? How do you know if they exist? Why look for drug traffickers? How do you know they even exist?"

You seem to be saying that the govt is above suspicion, and there is no right to audit their books. They should be audited.

would that include looking at President's, their staff and cabinet picks?

Then why aren't they conducting an actual audit with trained auditors? Why is a government contractor that receives billions in government contracts determining what contracts he wants to honor? Again more coup than audit in process. I've seen audits. This ain't it.

According to our constitution that job belongs to Congress. I'm fine with Congress doing it's job. Why do you want to throw out our constitution and current laws in favor of giving full control to a foreign billionaire instead of our Congress? We used to be a nation of laws. We used to care about national security.

Where is Congress in all of this?? Only Congress is supposed to have the power of the purse.

"power of the purse" = power to fund

We're talking about corruption here, and certainly the executive branch has the power to audit itself.

Basically there is a problem that is being made up... that there are government employees who somehow have too much money and we have to launch invasive investigations to root out these people. But no one can say if these people actually exist. It is a figment.

Unlike tax evaders... there are real world examples of those people existing and we made one of them President

That lady Samantha Power who heads USAID has experienced a tremendous increase in wealth. How did it happen? Did she just make some amazing investments? Or did she use her position to enrich herself?
