Elon Musk: "I just can't stand it anymore"

I kind of agree with Musk. Some of the spending seems way out there and over the top. The golden dome is one example. No tax on overtime is another one. And the SALT deduction seems mighty high.

Not really.

Elmo is not upset that this bill gives huge tax cuts to plutocrats.

He's mad that:
- He is no longer welcome at court
- They cut an EV subsidy
- They are not cutting spending enough (even though his own attempts to cut spending failed spectacularly)

Don't kid yourself. Don't think he has done a 180 because he's sniping at Dear Leader and Republicans via social media. His views have not changed one bit. He's still a drug-addled, narcissistic, homophobic, transphobic, white supremacist who does not give any ****s about the environment or Americans.
 

It's a lot simpler than that. Elon and his team dedicated a few months of their life to cut government waste and abuse, saving a few million here and there, but all that work can be quickly neutralized by excessive spending. If you take your job seriously, how would you like to have it instantly rendered unless, null and void?

It they didn't even do that. They just cut and cut. No real thought of efficiency improvement. They just slashed and burned.

Improving efficiency takes work, study, and coordinated effort. They didn't do any of that.

Not only that, but the downstream costs of Musks's slash and burn are going to be far greater.

It's so ****ing shortsighted for MAGAs to focus solely on government spending without looking at what other costs the cuts create. Musk saves some pennies by trashing NOAA. As a result, people will have less warning and less accurate warning about hurricanes and tornados. They won't evacuate in time. They won't protect their property enough. We'll see even more death and destruction than usual. That will create real costs that will have to be paid.

But the MAGA? The MAGA can't think past "but the federal balance sheet is lower durrrrrrrr!". Same shit no matter the example.

(Of course, it doesn't even get there because Trump wants military spending up by another $115,000,000,000 or so for no identified reason other than perhaps feeling vicariously tough himself)



MAGA's only setting is stupid evil.

Two options for more accurate names: Big oligarchy bill, and Class-warfare bill.
 
Agreed. The damage is deep. If Musk can dig himself out of the hole and regain his customer base, then I will applaud his skill. I don't know if he has it in him.

Trump is not the brightest bulb, but he played Musk beautifully.
He grabbed close to $300M of Musk's money and that got him elected.
Trump used him to get a lot of attention about DOGE, which was a complete failure.
Trumpers will never accept that reality though.

This type of power given to an unelected advisor is unprecedented, so the rules aren't very clear. Unless there's a rule preventing reappointment and extension, then Musk could have been reappointed and his term extended. But like I said, this is unprecedented. It's not like I can compare this to what happened last time, so I have no idea what the "rules" dictate.
 
I love that what makes this Bill an abomination to a man like Elon Musk is not the fact that it lets AI companies run amok across the United States, or allows Palantir to create a KGB-style dossier on every single citizen in the United States, or cuts Medicaid for the impoverished, but instead that it does not cut enough.

He might as well have said "My problem with the bill is that I came into government to hurt people, and while it hurts a ton of poor people, it just does not hurt enough of them."

I hope this bill sinks, but it almost certainly is not going to.

It's a great big eff you to America in Trump's final days. All because he could never quite cut it as legit or crook. Someone has to pay along with Don, so it may as well be the entire country. There's also Trump's four decade (or more) long crime spree being revealed, actually having to sit through a criminal conviction, and that was the last straw.
So what will the consequences for all this be for revealing it to the people of the United States and the rest of the world? I expect full annihilation from within, and absconding with as much of the U.S. wealth as humanly possible (probably to Russia). That's his plan anyway, more or less.
 
We still have no detailed report on what money will be "saved" by doge. One guy got to make the decisions.

I mean the amount of power wasted and pollution produced for Musk’s Grok is insane. Theres no way to justify this on any efficiency grounds.
