Elephants cannot sue to get out of the zoo, Colorado's top court rules

Here's the bottom line: no matter how ridiculous the argument sounds, this is lawyers doing anything they can come up with (with advocacy group money backing) to correct mistreatement of animals.

As insane as it sounds, I've whispsered an apology to elephants I've seen in zoos. These creatures visibly mourn their dead, for example. People who say they 'cry' at videos of dogs refusing to leave their owners graves will, nonetheless, defend taking animals with huge ranges like elephants and plopping them in these insanely small enclosures.

Know what happened to domestic violence and violent felony crimes during COVID lockdowns? Yeah.

I'd say that the concept of anthropomorphism is one of the most cruel concepts we've adopted without properly investigating it. You can watch videos of various animals getting familiar with and then behaving in every way as loving friends with animals of even other species and say that well we can't know that's really friendship, but you can't honestly say it. Their consciousness may not be on the same level as a human being, and "level" is probably an absurd word to use in this fashion. But you can't tell me they have no consciousness, no self-consciousness. You can't tell me they don't have some sort of conception of friendship, of love, of loss. Skinner can rot in hell for all I care.

That said, I still love a good steak. And yeah.. that's one of the many things always on my mind.

This won't end well. An elephant never forgets.
