It is my opinion that most governments, and especially our own here in the USA, are not all that interested in allowing the majority of us to get a decent education. I think that they are afraid of that more than any thing else. If we knew what was going on, we might vote the scoundrels out of office.
Below are a few quotes and bits of info that I have picked up from my own books, and they are ALL a bit negative.
Can anyone else add to the list some quotes on how politicians and world leaders view the education of the masses?
Bear in mind that we are talking education subjects here, not those subjects that make up our job training. They want us to have that, but the non job related subjects tend to be whitewashed in the colleges and downright Disney-ized in K-12.
My short list:
SCOTUS decided in 1973 that equal education is not a fundamental right guaranteed by the constitution.
Educating Americans through the means of the library service could bring about a change of their political attitude quicker than any other method. (he should have stopped here but went on to say) The basis of communism and socialistic influence is education of the people.
