The Quds Force is a branch of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps that has aided Hezbollah, Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, Yemeni Houthis, and Shia militias in Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan. He aided the Taliban against the NATO-backed Karzai administration. It aided in the formulation of Hezbollah. It aided the insurrection in Iraq thereby helping to extend the violence after the 2003 invasion. It has aided Al-Qaeda.

The list goes on but I suspect it will mean nothing to you because it is not America/West involved.

The conversation moved to the killing of Solemani. I gave context to Solemani's sins and Tigerace117 goes immediately to WHATABOUTISM.

What was it revenge for, and why was that revenge petty?

So when was the last time the US purposly target civilians. Because that is a big part of soleimani did. But I get it you have to attack America because of your failure.

Their individual event was not weak. On a strategic level it was incredibly weak. That you can’t understand the difference is a you problem.

Gee, all those war criminals the US pardoned— or didn’t even bother trying— not ringing a bell? Alan West tortured a prisoner and it “hurt” his career so much he’s chair of the Texas GOP. And that’s not even getting into shit like the AC-130 strike at Kunduz or the years of systematic torture, in many cases of innocent civilians, at “Black Sites”.

Furthermore, it was far from the first time it happened. Targeting of civilians in strategic bombing campaigns was commonplace throughout the Vietnam War, and insurgents like the Contras were trained to go after non-combatants while the CIA bombed refineries and mined harbors.

Well gee bud, they blew up a bunch of Americans and got away scot free. That’s not “weak” at all.

You mean when we spanked the Iraqi Army. Twice. Then hunted down Saddam. Oversaw a democracy being formed. Supported it against the likes Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani. Left when asked. Returned when asked. And finally withdraw again once the heavy lifting was done.

The hit was not “defense”; it was nothing more than a petty attempt at revenge, and under your own “logic” US servicemen and CIA agents would be equally valid targets due to the US’ policies of arming, training and supporting numerous terrorist groups.
 
They wouldn't. That's why the maniac dictator of Russia had to threaten the entire human race with nukes, when invading Ukraine. Because he knew his incompetent, outdated army would be turned to dust by American forces in a matter of days.

Not recent history. Things change, times change. And now Russia is a shell of a country with an outdated, incompetent military that would never dare to directly attack even one American tent.
 
Yes, the US’ actions in Iraq were a clear cut case of blundering on every level. We had no plan other than “they’ll greet us as liberators”, and when it became abundantly clear that wouldn’t be the case we panicked and started flailing wildly. We failed miserably to maintain order in the country from almost from the day after the invasion, we shot ourselves in the foot dozens of times with ill conceived schemes—like, gee, demobilizing the Iraqi Army without bothering to wonder “Hmm, I wonder what a bunch of armed, trained men who have no job and whose country is not occupied by foreigners are going to do next”

Gee, considering we spent a decade giving the Iraqis everything up to and including ANTHRAX and excusing them killing US servicemen because “but Iran” the posturing is comical.

And then, of course, we repeatedly violated the sovereignty of the government we created for petty revenge. Classic America.
