Drone Proliferation

Not a case of you first
I made no claim, YOU DID

In case you have forgotten, here it is again:
"Lasers aren't the most efficient way to deliver the most energy to target in the smallest amount of time"

Your ONLY support for this unsubstantiated claim is "Physics"

Go only cite a law of physics that PROVES your claim

While you're at it, cite one that supports your new claim: "Lasers can't deliver as much energy to target as ordinance can in the shortest span of time."

Laser are still developing.

Not sure why this footage is so disturbing, but it probably has something to do with how destructive it can be in the wrong hands...

So you can't back up your claim

Tell you what: YOU go look it up and provide substance for your otherwise worthless claim.

It’s late, I’m tired but taking a break on household chores. Long story that I won’t bore you with.

Ok, high powered lasers in atmosphere suffer attenuation of the beam. This is caused by the atmosphere being heated up, and refracting the laser. Like a flashlight, the beam spreads out and loses intensity, Additionally, there are dust, pollen, pollutants, and other particulates in the air, and these absorb, and refract some of the beams energy. This is in addition to what is called electron leakage.

Picture it this way, you are using a pressure washer. You have the smallest tip installed and the water stream is very tight at the tip, a few inches away, it has started to spread. As it continues on, it continues to spread. All that water is too tightly packed into a small stream, and once free of the containment, wants to spread out. I know, you have a laser pointer for the cats, and it seems to be awesome, as the light is coherent. It is, but it still spreads out. As it spreads out, just like the stream of water, it loses its intensity, and its power. That’s why water cutters, one of the most effective means of cutting most materials, has to be extremely close to the object being cut. To minimize the spread, the normal effect of entropy.

So between atmospheric shimmer screwing up the focus of the beam, particles of all sorts of stuff that is absorbing and being destroyed, and in the same time drawing power from the beam, and electron leakage, you get the idea. The laser starts out very tight, and spreads from all these effects. The laws of physics that were mentioned. You have laws of thermodynamics tossed in for good measure.

So Lasers have a much shorter range than it would seem from Science Fiction. After a couple miles, the beam has lost a significant percentage of its power. The further it goes, the more it degrades.

Another though for the future use of AI drones:

A drone that has a build in model of all weapons systems in an enemy arsenal that will allow it to identify targets independently and then send short, encrypted pulses of geolocator data back to indirect an indirect weapon system that then fires on the target.

You'd effective have a tank killing drone that is under 10 lbs.

This doesn't seem very high tech. Shooting a stationary drone isn't all that hard. I could do it with a rifle.

There will be a system some day, but things are going to escalate too fast for a human to keep up. Imagine trying to target a drone at 1000 meters that has you painted with a laser while executing an extreme random flight pattern.

heck, imagine that system and three synchronized drones coming from different angles... or 12.. or 50. And the total cost of those drones is less than your motorized drone killer.

Sounds good, as long as it's ultimately controlled by a human.

In 2024, drone technology is expected to continue to evolve and be used in more industries, such as real estate, agriculture, filmmaking, and public safety. The global commercial drone market is projected to grow by $126.87 billion from 2024–2028. Here are some of the top drones and companies in the drone industry:

  • 1729969881709.webp
DJI Air 3 Drone Fly More Combo
A relatively affordable drone with a dual camera, great image quality, and a variety of features

  • 1729969881760.webp
DJI Avata 2 Fly More Combo
A small drone that can handle slower speeds and tight spaces, making it ideal for one-shot videos

  • 1729969881796.webp
    Skydio
A top drone company that makes both drone hardware and software. Skydio's automated drone solutions are considered to be some of the lightest and smartest on the market.

Yep.

My last house sale the realtor used a drone for overhead photos. They turned out well.

Most good realtors do that now.

Youtube car reviewers had DJI drones that would automatically follow a car ( reasonably well )5 years ago. That was basically consumer grade drones. Commercial and or military drones have to much better now

The largest drone display so far is over 5,000 drones.

Imagine being on the battlefield and getting swarmed by 5 or 10 thousand armed autonomous drones.

We're going to see 2 technologies that haven't been focused on much in the last couple decades return in a big way: Electronic Warfare (you jam the controllers of the drones, and they lose effectiveness) and Gun Air Defense Artillery with air bursting munitions.

Imagine trying to fly a drone swarm through an area defended by this:
