Dow UP over 1300 point pretrade and now opens just as big.

china is on double secret tariff probation!

-600. Tariff man strikes again.

Their wages were 1/20th of American manufacturers... of course they were going to increase as more jobs became necessary to meet demand. U.S. wage growth stagnation began in the onset of the Reagan administration. This is common knowledge, and there is no excuse for a since 2000 failed cherry pick.

Those jobs are never coming back. The working class needed to retool their skill set. Some did. Most did not. Crashing the global economy doesn't change this fact

There's a direct correlation between granting China PTNR status in 2000 and the loss of our factories. Do you think 60,000 US factories just disappeared for no reason? And these factory losses were exasperated with dumbass free trade agreemnts such as NAFTA, CAFTA and a host more that focused on third world countries who's people could never afford our goods but who were more than happy to see their wages rise. Essentially we shipped off our production for the benefit of corporate profits at the expense of the American worker. It's undeniable.

You have a bizarre idea of fun.... ;)
Well; what can I say? I'm a senior citizen retired for over twenty years now at age 79 and find TV mindnumbingly boring, so I gets my kicks from Route 66 or potholed number 47.

yes, it was capitalism that was linked to profit maximization via globalization.

are you arguing for socialism now?

Looks like buying the dip wasn't too bright after all. Everything was going good until orange man played "top this" with Xi. Come on Republicans grow a big pair and impeach him.

The very day my husband retired we took off in our Thunderbird (2002 model) and did the entire Rte 66 from Chicago to LA. We joined the Rte 66 club and followed the original route, as best you could, staying in vintage motels and eating in diners. We had a ball meeting up with so many interesting people doing the same thing. We have done probably 20 long road trips but Rte 66 was the best.

I'm a former Democrat and some habits die hard.

Well it's good to see MAGAs start to come clean about their anti-capitalist ideals.

But we're not getting those manufacturing jobs back, not on whole, it will never go back to what it was way back in the day. When we made the the USD the default international trade currency, we traded away domestic manufacturing for national security. This gave us the ability to impose economic sanctions on foreign countries through our banking system. But the result of that was that the value of the USD drastically, which made it impossible to manufacture in America like we used to.

Tariffs won't change that. That's the fundamental stupidity of Trump's Trade War. Tariffs are not going to return manufacturing to America. All they will do will be to raise the price of goods and services dramatically to all of us while simultaneously making American companies less competitively viable in other markets. We saw in Trump's first Trade War, which was smaller in scale than this one, that we lost manufacturing jobs and jobs out of other sectors because of it. All we're going to do this time is to exacerbate that trend while making everything far more expensive. And in doing so, we're not going to address wages either, so we'll effectively keep draining wealth out of the working classes and feed it to the 1%. Which, ironically, is what we did when we traded manufacturing in the first place but failed to follow through on the promises to upskill US industry away from manufacturing and towards more complex, technical fields.

Musk is such a child. It blows me away when people say he's smart. He's so damn dumb. He's merely a testament to how being born rich allows you to constantly fail upwards.
Asperger’s. Maybe gifted in some areas.

Horribly handicapped in social intelligence.
